About DM Trev Dungeoneer

I am an experienced DM of twenty years, and started with playing AD&D 2nd ed in the 90s. Ran many games since I took up DMing, finished many campaigns. Gone through many systems, but come back to AD&D, along with being a champion of lesser-known Goblin Slayer. What brought me back to AD&D? What has really drawn me in, is running the classic AD&D and early D&D modules. Palace of the Silver Princess, In Search of the Unknown, Horror on the Hill. Finished them all as the DM. Over the next decade, I aim to get through most of the early modules with my players, and to truly experience D&D from the start. There are so many adventures here, that I never got to experience in the 90s and 2000s, but it turns out I love running them. Being the ‘forever DM’ is not a curse. What I am bringing as an AD&D DM is the chance to push and fight through these early modules. Many are highly regarded, but there isn’t always the chance to play them unless you know old Grognards. Hiring me for this purpose means you can play these modules. We will see what they have to offer, see if we can survive. The traps, the monsters, the riddles... I see my players as dungeoneers taking on the challenge. Be brave my dungeoneers. As a Goblin Slayer DM, I have been really impressed by this lesser-known system. It’s focus on fatigue and Latin or chants in spellcasting makes it feel quite different to others. You can even die of fatigue, and you will learn some Latin while playing it. That isn’t the norm elsewhere. Goblin Slayer TRPG starts with two adventures, and more ideas and plots are available in the manga and novels. That game is very beginner friendly, the system is easy to understand, and it can become the start of a longer campaign. I run games at night (in Australia), but can also run early morning for my players to suit an international audience. It is hard to tell the time inside a dungeon after all.

How DM Trev Dungeoneer runs games

My DM style is a consistent focus on combat and dungeon clearing. Love to describe the clash of steel, armour being battered and pierced, the sharpened awareness when life is on the line, the emotions and tension of battle, and the brave and often grisly deeds. Also really appreciate traps, thieves (to save the party from traps), assassins, and old school monsters. All are thrown into my games. Otherwise, I also like worldbuilding and feudal politics in my games. These are indulged in my longer campaigns. I definitely appreciate throwing in aspects of the natural world as well: trees, herbs, animals. Others interests include birds (like falco peregrinus), feudal history, fantasy art, Bannerlord, and kendo.
