About Megan M.

D&D to me should always be about fun and escape from the real world. I’ve been playing D&D on and off for 18 years as a player, and as a DM for the last 3 years! I run strictly homebrew one-shots and campaigns I’ve cobbled together myself from several inspirations, and the rule of cool has a big part at my table (as long as you can make it make sense within the world and story). I believe in D&D being high fantasy, so I don’t do modern campaigns, but I highly prize creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking. Let’s just have some fun!

My favorite books are

Anything romantasy! Specifically such as A Court of Thorns and Roses series, Fourth Wing series, the Red Queen series, etc

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Kind, Knowledgeable and Creative.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working my butt off at my warehouse job, or dealing with my teenagers, and maybe sneaking in some reading if I’m lucky.

How Megan M. runs games

My DM style can best be described as “I will balance the encounter but also actively try to kill your character!” Just kidding…kinda. I love roleplay, and while I can do some character voices, I’m not the greatest. I love giving descriptions to fill out the world I want you to see, but fair warning I suck at NPC names! I follow the rule of cool for my games, but no metagaming allowed! I'm not a crunchy strategy DM, but you do your gaming style.

I prep by

Reading material related to what inspires me and struggling to write on my laptop :)

My favorite trope is...

Eldritch horror.

Rules are...

More like a series of guidelines.

Megan M.'s ideal table

My table style can be ruled as "relaxed-rule of cool-no metagaming". Just about any players will fit well at my table, but I'll admit I'm not fond of rules lawyers but I love a challenge too! I like to think that anybody can fit well at my table, especially because I run homebrew one-shot and campaigns. FYI, I love to do holiday one-shots!

I love it when a player

comes up with a way to bend the rules that makes sense within the world and the story...I might just allow it too!

I think metagaming...

Should not be allowed, and if you do so, a one-pound anvil will drop out of the sky on your character but be 1000 tons when it hits (with repeated warnings, and talks beforehand of course)!

I think min/maxing...

is a challenge I'm up for, and you should do it!
