About William
I am William, an engineering graduate who is moving to a new area. I'm looking to meet some friends and play some games! I have been GMing for seven years (since secondary school) and have run all sorts of games: D&D 5e, Vampire The Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu and murder mysteries. I have run for friends I already knew and new friends I met through a gaming society at university. I like running games that focus on mystery and player choice. I often invite players to use their creativity to join in when building the world and its inhabitants. I usually run homebrew content that is driven by the characters' ambitions. I use theatre of the mind or abstract maps to keep my games flexible. I hope to play with you soon!

How William runs games
I have played games from many genres but the tension of a horror mystery always pulls me back in. My favourite thing to do is to contrast a dark game with my light-hearted style and NPCs. No NPC is too precious to be the but of a joke. My table encourages shenanigans and laughing - we're here to have fun! My focus as a GM is having fun and making sure you are all having fun. I believe the best way to do this is to respect player agency and keep things moving. When the rules get in the way, I toss them aside. I always value the opinions of my plays when making a ruling, it's your game too. I like to keep my games exciting and flexible. I use theatre of the mind or abstract maps and a catalogue of NPCs to make sure there is adventure around every corner. I run homebrew games so that the story we tell will be crafted from the characters you bring to the table and the choices you make, not a module.
