About me

Hi I am Almond, my pronouns are they/them. I've been playing TTRPGs for almost a decade and have been running games for the past 2 years through my local game shop. I am now wanting to branch out into running games online. I am neurodivergent and nonbinary, so my aim is to create a welcoming table for all kinds of players. I am going to be running mostly prepublished adventures to begin with.

This negative review does not come from a place of malice. I want more people of all kinds to join the TTRPG hobby. With that in mind, when a GM charges to host a game that elevates the situation from a casual experience to a service-based transaction, where the expectations are higher. AlmondLBD seems like a nice enough person, they seem genuine in wanting players to enjoy themselves. However, they should probably run a couple of free games online until they get an understanding of how their VTT of choice functions. If I am paying $16.75 per session I should not have to: wait an additional fifteen minutes at the start of session for them “to do some last minute prep”, teach the GM where the Inititave Tracker is in the HUD, explain how to toggle advantage / disadvantage, explain what a dexterity tie-breaker is, explain how to change the scene so that the players can see the combat map. When we got to the Cragmaw Hideout there was no dynamic lighting, we could see every room and the labels from outside. Finally, even though the session was posted as 3-4 hours. We started late and ended early, so we only got about 2 hours of the dedicated time. If money is to be exchanged, then I should be charging for tutoring them, not the other way around. Fortunately, these issues can be fixed with practice and by making time to improve. I do hope that AlmondLBD gains proficiency and becomes a successful GM.
