About Ryan
I have been GMing since 2014, and playing table top RPGs since 2007. I have a passion for the hobby and elected to make that passion profitable while I'm between jobs at the moment. I have an easy-going style, though I do make sure that progress is made, and have experience in a couple of different games. Here's the list of the games I'm most experienced with: D&D 3.5 and 5E, Star Wars Revised edition (this was made by Wizards of the Coast back in the early '00s; I've very nearly finished a conversion of it to 5E) and Call of Cthulhu 7E. I'm looking to expand my horizons and run other games later on, but for now I'll be starting with D&D 5E one-shots. I've also created my own Discord for this very purpose. I do have a couple of rules: 1. I do session 0s. They will occur 1 to 2 days before the first proper session, depending on player availability. I'll field any questions you have there, but feel free to roll up your character prior to the session 0. I prefer to let players do this on their own as it helps them to connect to their character. 2. I generally allow any and every method of rolling stats, but do try to confer with your fellow players on this as some folks are rather particular about that kind of thing. 3. I have a zero tolerance policy for real world racism and sexism, homophobia, and transphobia of any kind. Some in-world racism is unavoidable in most games (for instance, racial issues create conflict in the Forgotten Realms, and most Call of Cthulhu games are set in the 1920's in the real world, which was notoriously unkind to anyone who was not white, straight or male) but that will be used sparingly or, depending on how things go in session 0, not at all. This policy also applies to sexual harassment. Anyone who violates this policy will be immediately and permanently kicked from the Discord server and the game. 4. Webcams are not required. I use one simply to make it feel more like we're all sitting around a table, but don't feel obligated to use one yourself. 5. I make heavy use of Roll20 and ObsidianPortal. Roll20 is the most popular virtual table top on the market currently and I really like its toolset. ObsidianPortal is a website dedicated to organizing campaigns, particularly in regards to characters, items, maps, etc. It's free to sign up for both sites. For one-shots I will only be using Roll20, but when I start running longer games I will use both sites.

How Ryan runs games
I'm more combat oriented but I also greatly appreciate roleplay. I enjoy a good laugh but also make sure that things don't get too derailed.
