About me

Hello Everyone! My name is Josh (He/Him), but when it comes to D&D things I tend to go to by Inferno. My timezone is EST or CST, depending on time of year. I've been playing and running D&D games for about the last four years! A lover of both in-depth lore and fierce combat, I've been addicted to the Dungeons and Dragons system ever since for its amazing storytelling capabilities and endless versatility. I'm committed to providing an affordable and entertaining experience for all who play at my table! I'm always building new homebrew settings. I love running classic High Fantasy games (with a twist of course), though I draw inspiration from dark fantasy. steampunk/high-tech, and occasionally horror settings in writing my stories. My games are always complete with various NPCs, developing lore, and a highly player-centric focus when it comes to developing the world! My players are as much the architects of my settings as I am.

GM Style

My central philosophy as a DM is that my primary job is to ensure everyone at the table is enjoying themselves, myself included. I tend to default to RAW (or RAI when RAW is convoluted or incomplete), but am always open to common-sense solutions and creative interpretations. I'm also well aware of the flaws of the rules and will bend them as necessary to ensure the best experience for everyone! I am an optimiser and a wargamer at heart, but my games are open to players of all play styles! I love to include both grindy, tactically difficult combats and difficut roleplay scenarios in my games. When writing and preparing my games, I like to try my best to mix the two things I enjoy most about D&D: -Character-focused stories in which my players get to explore and develop their character's backstory and personality. I love tying in backstories to the plot, and my campaigns are always formatted around aspects of the player characters! In addition, I love throwing varied situations at characters and seeing how they react, and my hope is that through playing at my table your character continues to develop with each session -Challenging and often highly dangerous combat is always a part of my games. I love the thrill of a good fight, and I love to provide a real challenge in battle to my players. I strive to have each combat provide both interesting tactical options and a difficult, sometimes life-threatening fight. My games may vary from "this will be challenging, but not too hard" to "have at least one backup character. You'll need it." That being said, I'm always adjusting to the power level of my party. Optimization is more than welcome at my table, but is also by no means required In terms of VTTs, I prefer to use Roll20. Though it can have its issues with performance, together with the Beyond20 extension, it is one of the best and most accessible VTTs out there. However, I may use simpler platforms like Owlbear Rodeo for shorter games and one-shots. I always use a VTT of some kind for combat, and tend to go with Theater of the Mind for roleplaying
