About me

Greetings! My name is Aether! My journey as a Dungeon Master began with 3rd Edition, a classic that taught me the foundations of the game. From there, I naturally advanced into 3.5 and found a home in Pathfinder 1e, where I have run many games across multiple settings. But I'm no stranger to other systems, I've run rulesets such as 5e, 4e, Starfinder, ffd20 and World of Darkness. Yet, no matter the system or setting, my core belief remains the same: Dungeons & Dragons is a game about collaborative storytelling. Both players and the DM should have the opportunity to shape the setting, and through our shared gameplay, dictate the course of the world. I am a firm advocate for player-driven narratives. The direction of the game should always be chosen by you, the players, and I have a particular fondness for character-driven stories where the backstories of the party form the foundation of our adventure. Your characters are not just in the story, they are the story. I look forward to building worlds with you, where every decision has weight, every character has depth, and every session is an unforgettable journey!

GM Style

My GMing style revolves around immersive roleplay and long-form storytelling. I enjoy crafting complex situations and multifaceted scenarios that challenge the player's abilities and strategic thinking. Whether it's navigating political intrigue, unraveling ancient mysteries, or facing personal moral dilemmas, I aim to create a world where player choice and consequences drives the story forward Collaborative storytelling is essential to me. I value player input and enjoy incorporating character backstories and choice into the narrative. You are never on rails in my campaign I appreciate tactical combat and I prefer encounters where player planning and creativity shine. Expect battles with many potential moving parts, requiring teamwork and clever thinking to overcome Ultimately, my goal is to provide a memorable and emotional experience. Whether through the thrill of victory, or the remorseful sting of defeat, I strive to create moments that resonate long after the game ends

Aether is a very fun GM to be a player for, he works with the players for both mechanics and storytelling and does his best to make sure everyone is having a good time.

The world itself was a blast to exist in and npc interactions could be solved with actual dynamic conversation. Combat was scaled well, rough but fair and occasional player death felt like the players fault (excluding random super crits)

Whilst I was unable to start a game with Aether due to job shifts, I was able to work with them on a character that I am gutted to not be able to play as! Not only were they open to allowing something truly unique, but they also helped immensely with the backstory, taking a leading role helping me feel like this character would truly fit into this world! They even worked hard to help make art that I would be happy with, going over multiple iterations before we decided on one. From our times of chatting, I can say that Aether would be an amazing DM and one that I truly hope to game with properly someday, as the story they built is just fantastically detailed and open to player input!

Aether is excellent at incorporating players and their stories into the overarching plot of the campaign. As a fellow DM I really admire his dedication to the lore and world-building of any game I play of his.

His world and encounter designs are not random. The whole world is moving along with you, it feels like you're really impacting the reality of the world he's built for you. Also, that's the other thing is he will spend a long time building this world for you, characters, design art and accents. If you show his game the respect it deserves by being an honest player you're going to make some great memories. He's a great DM.
