About Drowsy Desert Games

Hi everybody! I'm Drowsy of Drowsy Desert Games! I'm a Husband, a Dad, a Vet, and a long time player of TTRPG's on both sides of the screen. Like many, I've found in my 15+ years of dungeon delving and daring-do, if one wishes to, ya know...roleplay literally *anything* else, it can be a challenge! Finding a group (or convincing one you're already in) to try something new can be quite the frustrating exercise. Breaking the medieval fantasy mold to try a new genre, or perhaps it's the idea of learning new mechanics that stymies variety... Trust, I know your pain, and I'm here to help! Over the decades I've been doing this DM'ing deal, the idea of crafting, telling, and playing through stories you wouldn't find or experience anywhere else has always been at the forefront of my creative process. That's not to say classic sword and sorcery has *no* place at my table, far from it! In fact, instead of going on a long diatribe about how "unique" I am as a Gamemaster, I'll just post some of the games I've ran through the years down below. I think that'll explain things better than anything typed by guy who only finished half an English degree ever could! *Mojave Championship Wrestling (WWRPG) - The most dangerous and death defying feats of professional wrestling greatness this side of Death Valley! I ran this promotion for 4 years with the same group of guys, which to anyone whose ever run a PbtA style game before, I'm pretty sure that's a record! 6 seasons of the best wrestling television to ever *not* be seen on the tv screen, and what I consider to be a crowning achievement in my GM-ing career! *Savage Shadows / The S.P.I.R.I.T. Squad (Crusaders) - Crusaders is a game replicating the classic superhero comics of the 1980's, in both form and function! Savage Shadows and the S.P.I.R.I.T. Squad were two different groups, one close friends and the other coworkers, defending Victory City, USA from all manners of vile villains. Victory City was my own creation, think Gotham meets New Orleans, and the interweaving stories of the two cursed detectives known as the Shadows and the college kid super-group S.P.I.R.I.T.'s made it basically a 7+ player super game (pardon the pun) at the end, great fun! *One Rough Night (Gangbusters B/X) - A one shot I ran years ago to great success. Gangbusters is an older RPG replicating old school Mafioso's in the 20's and 30's. In a past life I was a history major, and so a lot of my games take place in either real life historical locations, or at the very least, informed by history or allegorical in someway towards it...I just love it! In this session the players were two bit hoods trying to secure a spot in Al Capone's legendary "Outfit" by securing a load of "Sweet Whiskey" from a boarding house in Chicago's Back of the Yards....let's just say, for those who survived, it was One Rough Night! These are the kind of games you'll get with me as your Gamemaster. Character driven, story focused experiences where everyone leaves the table feeling like they've *done* something. It's been great fun getting to tell these tall tales with people all over the world, and I hope to do so with you as well! Hope to see you in the Drowsy Desert! *
