About me

I'm Anemone! I'm a 30 year old trans woman who spends nearly every waking hour enmeshed in some sort of worldbuilding project. I'm particularly passionate about fantasy worlds and stories, with an emphasis on mythology, imagined cultures, and fictional ecology. I enjoy creating lush, whimsical landscapes and strange creatures for players to interface with and become lost in. I've dabbled in various tabletop systems as both a player and a GM but GMing tends to be what always pulls me back in. Systems that encourage dynamic, collaborative storytelling and setting crafting tend to be my favorite. Apocalypse World is probably still my favorite system, but I always seem to be falling in love with its various offshoots. Some of my most consistent influences in terms of tone, aesthetic, and thematic conception tend to be the works of Fromsoftware, pulpy fantasy paperbacks, Monster Hunter, Pokemon movies (this distinction is important), and the forever undisputed goat Shadow of the Colossus. Living, immersive worlds full of strange, whimsical characters and creatures. Hidden secrets to unearth and custom magical systems designed with an emphasis on cultural practices and JRPG stylishness. Open-ended scenarios and encounters that can be navigated in flexible ways with room for humor and surprises. Worldbuilding that takes into account and intends to do away with or thoroughly interrogate baked-in imperialistic and racist holdovers from years of boilerplate western fantasy traditions. Fluid genre awareness and a desire to make things that are cool, exciting, subversive, and dramatic be what they should be! Also probably giant bugs.
