About Eric

I've been playing D&D for 10 yrs and running almost immediately after playing. I've come to learn that the correct way to win D&D is when everyone has fun. My goal as a DM is to ensure everyone has their moment of winning the big moment for their character in the story. I try to have an emersive game and pull backstory into the game when running. I have no issues with confrontation when it comes to inappropriate behavior at the table and have a 3 strike rule that will have warnings each time and a way to work through issues before they get too bad. All games I run have moments of humor and seriousness.

I got started GMing...

My groups rotation was coming up and I wanted to give it a try. It was abysmal. After finding out I wouldnt be Vicious Mockeried into an early grave, I kept going and got better and I dont regret the first awful try.

My favorite shows/movies are

Star Wars, Star Trek, The Orville. Could use a fantasy series tbh

People are always surprised when I tell them

I'm trying to have the largest US collection of Kamen Rider henshin devices

How Eric runs games

Sword and Sorcerery mixed with High Fantasy. I keep darker themes for big impact moments when they'll hit more emotionally. I slowly ramp up combat for increasing difficult combat. With also plenty of times for funny moments.

Featured Prompts

My favorite trope is...

Ending each session on a cliffhanger. Having something big and pointed to end the session makes the build up to the next session much more satisfying.

My games focus on...

Having fun while building to a big gut punch later in the game

When it comes to voices

I do the best I can and hope my players will too. While voices aren't mandatory, I encourage as best I can to portray a character.

Eric's ideal table

People who get along, can plan and encourage each other and make good role play decisions. Set the vibe, encourage the vibe to grow, and have a good time at the table.

Off the wall ideas

I think it's a red flag when players...

Are nitpicking with the rules when it puts every9ne else at a detrement.
