About chrispychickin
I've been playing TTRPGs since the early 1980s and I'm loving the resurgence in popularity of tabletop gaming. I run a range of games aimed at introducing players to awesome systems they may not realize exist. I like to keep things simple using physical dice and theater of the mind on Discord. These days most of my games are play-by-post but I do host the occasional one-shot over voice channel. All of my games are LQBTQIA+, BIPOC and neurodivergent friendly. Gaming newbies will be offered all the support they need to find a fun and safe gaming environment.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Knave, Dragonbane and Candela Obscura.
When I'm not running games I'm...
spending too much time on Genshin Impact!
My favorite books are
Dragons Of Autumn Twilight and Jane Eyre ... go figure!
How chrispychickin runs games
Never let the rules bring the story to a halt or throw a wet blanket on the fires of creativity and fun. Much like peanut butter I prefer smooth over crunchy game mechanics. High danger, low magic ... anyone can try anything. That's my style.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
the Coen brothers.
My favorite trope is...
the damsel isn't in distress ... she's kicking ass.
Rules are...
working when they disappear into the background.
chrispychickin's ideal table
My table is a place where the players make, and are rewarded for, creative solutions. We depend less on character sheets and more on collaborative storytelling. Characters are vulnerable but replaceable in an unpredictable world. My table isn't railroaded ... it's the players and the dice who tell the story.

My table is not the place for...
rules lawyers.
I think metagaming...
is part of the experience. It's a game, after all.
I love it when a player
tries to talk their way out of a seemingly impossible situation.
