About Celeste C.

I'm a high fantasy writer, an avid gamer, a witch with a day job, and a loving DM to some weird D&D players. Come sit by my fire, warm yourselves, and let me tell you a story... I may be newer to the game than those who have been playing since the days of Gary Gygax, but I've played alongside amateur and professional DMs alike. And on June 14th, 2024, I participated in Authentic Dungeons' Dungeon Master Challenge, nabbing second place for myself at Game Con Canada behind the old mad wizard Fizban. Sure, I lost out by 0.66% of the possible score, but I'm not mad. You should have heard that man's banshee shriek! I've been obsessed with RPGs for nearly two decades now and love to lose myself in a well-built fantasy world. After a failed campaign in which I was a player, I turned the tables around and began to stretch my wings as a Dungeon Master. I was a bit nervous at first, but my story-telling abilities and love of worldbuilding catapulted me into a new world of my own creation, one that is ever-expanding as my regular campaign group slowly makes their way through the chapters I've laid out for them. I am heavy on homebrew and I love to spoil my players with extra feats and magic items, then turn around and throw challenges at them that may make them occasionally fear for their characters' lives. But no matter what, all I want is for my players to be able to get together, have fun, and drive me insane with their shenanigans. I won't stop my players from trying to achieve god-like abilities, but don't doubt for a second that I'll make you work for it. I'm not a diehard stickler for RAW, so long as you can make it make sense and respect my ruling (which may end up being in your favour if your idea is that good). I like to think of myself as an enabler. Do you want to play... - A wizard with a glaive who cuts heads off while slinging spells? - A sword-swinging cleric-paladin with a homebrewed oath who serves as the party's herbalist and health potion supply store? - An artificer battle-smith who serves as the party's first line of defense and crits like a king to stun-lock trolls? - A warlock who can enchant resistances into armour and make your weapon hit like a hammerblow from the gods? - A cat wizard who can transmute fireballs into holy hand grenades? Are the above examples real players? Yes, this is my lovely little band of chaotic good, chaotic lucky, and chaotic stupid (<- I'm sure we all know someone like this). These lunatics love to drive me half insane Saturday night as I place my head in my hands and question all of my life choices. So, come take a peek at the world I've made. And let's see what sorts of history we can make together.

How Celeste C. runs games

After winning myself a big model of a gold dragon at GameCon this year, I'm ready to bring what I learned in the competition to the gaming table. Assets and Areas of Focus: - 34 sourcebooks, 27 adventure books, 2 books of partnered content (including Ravenloft/Strahd, Wildemount, Radiant Citadel, Theros, Princes of the Apocalypse, and Out of the Abyss). - 82 attribute points to divide between Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. - Extra feats at levels 1, 5, 9, 13, and 17 for increased character development. - Multi-round combat and wars of attrition to challenge players who might be getting off a little too easily with their quest rewards. - Roleplay is my favourite aspect of the game. I love working with my players to find ways to incorporate complex backstory to create fun, interesting, and unique characters that my players can really bond with. - High fantasy settings with all of the bells and whistles. - Quests, side-quests, and dungeon crawls. - Skill checks galore! - Lore dumps and engaging monologues to start sessions. I'm a writer, I love weaving stories - Training for language, armour, weapon, and skill proficiencies. - Training for physical attribute scores. - Pet and mount training systems for the more exotic fauna you may come across in your travels through Eriathra. For official D&D oneshots and campaigns, I'll be playing with generous allowances for players, such as my 82 point system, and I will also tend to be more generous with magic items and rewards. I want my players to feel powerful and have fun (but you lot are absolutely going to have to earn it). I run campaigns for those who want to fight, struggle, and come out as mighty heroes! Villain campaigns are not my specialty, and so it will likely be some time before I choose to offer those as well. For one-shots within the Eriathra universe, expect small, pivotal moments that help to shape the lives of key players in Eriathra's history. For multi-session games, expect to see that history play out before your eyes. There is potential for LOTS of homebrew at this table whenever I run Eriathra content. RAW only goes as far as I say it does, and sometimes I will rule that a cleric carrying a set of bagpipes can do 2d8 thunder damage to everyone within a hundred feet if they fail a DC 14 Con save. Because have you ever HEARD bagpipes played up close? As a former highland dancer, I have. It HURTS. Is this overpowered? Yes! Do I care? Well, give me a few sessions (or at least a few hours) to start regretting my life choices. But, I would rather have regrets over letting my players go wild than regret restricting them and keeping them from having fun. After all, that's what we're here for. Though my homebrewed campaign setting is still a work in progress, if you're willing to be a guinea pig in it for the long haul, then shoot me a DM and ask about my Tales of Eriathra campaign and how you can get a seat at my table, or even book my table for you and your friends.
