About Ringmaster
Hi, I’m Jo, CEO, Founder and Ringmaster of Dice Circus, an Streamed Actual Play built around one simple philosophy: This is my circus, and these are my monkeys. 🎪 I’m a Game Master, storyteller and professional chaos coordinator with a love for cinematic, character driven D&D. I created Dice Circus to build the kind of table I always wanted to play at, somewhere players can be ridiculous one minute, emotionally devastated the next, and completely invested in the story we’re creating together. My GM style is heavily focused on roleplay, immersive storytelling and player choice. I love building living worlds filled with complicated NPCs, mysteries, relationships, consequences and those tiny character moments that somehow become more important than the entire main quest. Combat at my table isn’t just “I attack. 17 to hit.” I want to know what that attack looks like. What your character is feeling. What the enemy does when they realise they’re losing. I love cinematic encounters, environmental mechanics, unconventional objectives and combat that actually moves the story forward. I’m the creator and GM behind Valyndor, the homebrew world at the heart of Dice Circus, a world of fractured kingdoms, forbidden magic, morally questionable organisations, terrifying creatures, lesbian pirates, deeply suspicious islands and an alarming number of NPCs my players have decided to adopt. As CEO of Dice Circus Ltd, I also produce and develop our Actual Play content, livestreams, characters, worlds and growing circus of creative projects. My tables are welcoming, LGBTQ+ friendly and built around collaboration rather than trying to “beat” the GM. You don’t need to be an incredible actor, know every rule or arrive with a five page backstory. Bring me a character you’re excited about and a willingness to play, and we’ll build the rest together. Expect big characters, bigger consequences, terrible decisions, found family, horror, comedy, romance, mysteries, dramatic reveals and an unreasonable amount of emotional attachment to fictional people. 🎪 Welcome to the Circus.

When I'm not running games I'm...
When I’m not emotionally traumatising my players, I’m usually baking something, gaming, learning yet another hobby I absolutely did not need, or working on some new creative obsession. Currently that’s music! I’m also a cat mum to two Bengals.
How Ringmaster runs games
I adore character driven worlds where your character truly feels like they belongs in the story. I want you to embody your character however you choose. You bring them to the table, and I’ll narrate their world, create their challenges, build their combats and help tell their story. I’m a heavy roleplay GM at heart, with a healthy mix of storytelling, combat, puzzles, exploration, ridiculous moments and emotional ones. I love creating NPCs that feel like real people and stories where your choices genuinely influence what happens next. And yes, I will absolutely perform accents. Will my Scottish accent occasionally fight its way back through? Also yes. 😂 Rule of Cool lives at my table. If you think of something epic, creative or completely unhinged and the core rules technically say you can’t do it, tell me what you’re trying to achieve. If there’s a way to make it work, I probably will. I would much rather create a memorable moment than stop one because of a technicality. I’m also a very laid back GM. Life can get heavy sometimes, and D&D should be something you look forward to, not another obligation. Whether you come to my games for escapism, friendship, storytelling or simply because rolling shiny maths rocks makes your brain happy, you’re welcome here. My tables are LGBTQ+ friendly and welcoming to everyone, and creating a space where players feel comfortable being themselves is incredibly important to me. My table is known as The Dice Circus, and you’re officially invited beneath the Big Top. 🎪 As a little extra, players can also choose to have custom artwork of their characters created by me (yes I also like to doodle), giving you something special to remember your character and their adventures by. Dice Circus is also proudly sponsored by Loke Battle Mats, whose maps and gaming products help us bring our encounters and adventures to life. So bring me your elaborate backstory, your ridiculous character voice, your morally questionable decisions and the character concept you’ve been desperate to play.
