My favorite books are
My favorite books are Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere for its intricate magic and interconnected worlds, David Eddings’ Belgariad for its classic charm and incredible characters, and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings for its epic scope, deep lore, and timeless vision of good versus evil.
My favorite system of all Time is
Burning Wheel is my all-time favorite system, and the one I love to bring to the table most. The system thrives on character growth, hard choices, and meaningful consequences, and the gritty and evocative medieval fantasy backdrop is excellent.
When I'm not running games I'm...
When I'm not running games I'm writing epic fantasy, worldbuilding, or playing with my boys. I also enjoy streaming TTRPGs and reading lots of good books.
How Caleb Powers runs games
I lean more towards the storytelling/worldbuilding side of things, though I don't mind a good rules-heavy system. I like to indulge in character voices and deep drama/roleplay, but also deeply enjoy understanding the mechanics of a role-playing game and using them to their fullest extent.

I prep by
I prep by building strong foundations: maps, factions, and story beats that can respond to players’ choices. I prepare enough structure to keep things flowing while leaving room for improvisation.
My games focus on...
My games focus on character-driven stories where player choices matter, with a balance of roleplay and crunchy rules engagement. I want players to feel like their actions change the world around them.
Rules are...
Rules are a framework that keeps the game fair and consistent. I stick close to RAW, but I don’t let flipping through books kill the moment—flow and fun come first.
Caleb Powers's ideal table
My tables are story-driven, with a focus on character choices that matter and worlds that change in response to what the players do. I enjoy running games where both narrative depth and rules mastery are valued—you’ll get tactical challenges and mechanical crunch, but also space to roleplay, scheme, and invest in your characters. The ideal players for my table are those who want to engage with the world seriously, collaborate with others at the table, and bring their own creativity to the story. I like players who care about immersion, are willing to try roleplay even if it’s new to them, and who appreciate both character development and meaningful challenges. The vibe is relaxed but purposeful: we’ll joke, have fun, and enjoy ourselves, but when the dice hit the table and decisions matter, we lean into the drama. Themes can get dark, intense, and emotionally weighty, but they will always be handled with care. I especially enjoy stories where characters wrestle with honor, duty, loyalty, and sacrifice—themes of heroism and moral weight are often at the heart of my campaigns. My table does not include explicit sexual content, excessive crudeness/vulgarity, or real-world political drama—I prefer to keep the focus on story, adventure, and the kinds of challenges that make roleplaying games truly shine.
