About Harrison
Hello, I'm Harrison! I'm a aspiring teacher with a passion for writing. I have been playing tabletop games for around seven years now, for six of which I've been a regular GM. I'm great at balancing and running combat, but don't think that means I'm not good at roleplaying too! I have extensive experience running one-shots so I'm very good at making tight efficient adventures and sessions. These skills help my long term campaigns as well, as they help me make every session an exciting adventure in its own right! Most of my experience is with Dungeons and Dragons, and I have also played Morkborg and Cyborg. I've even made my own homebrew system! So sign up with me if you want balanced sessions with creative combat, fun roleplay, and engaging stories!

I got started GMing...
by making up my own superhero system. It was way too ambitious and it was something of a mess, but my friends and I all had fun so no regrets.
How Harrison runs games
I view combat as another opportunity to roleplay. The decisions that players make in those moments are a great way to reveal parts of their character that people don't normally get to see. As such, I love running unique, engaging, and well balanced combat encounters that make players do more than churn through hitpoints. Don't think that I'm all about combat though. I love crafting a fun overarching story that weaves through both the world and the players characters by incorporating their backstories and goals. Player interactions with the world and each other is the heart of any roleplaying game, and giving players opportunities to do so is an absolute joy. Good roleplay gives combat meaning, and good combat gives roleplay stakes. So come to me to see all the best that tabletop games have to offer!

Rules are...
there to make the game fun, and also not perfect. Sometimes you have to bend them a bit and that's okay.
Harrison's ideal table
Fun, casual, and balanced. Players who are looking to roll some dice, have some fun, and tell a story together can always have a seat at the table. At my table, expect fun dynamic combat, engaging casual roleplay, and a great story we all tell together.

I love it when a player
gets lost in a scene with the group. The best parts of TTRPGs are when the story we're all telling together becomes almost real. Whether it's mourning the death of a beloved NPC or cheering when someone crits on an important roll, it's the moments we all come together that makes these games special.
I think metagaming...
is annoying but somewhat inevitable. It'll happen time to time, and if it's fun or accidental it's fine, but if it's exploiting the game it isn't.
I think min/maxing...
totally fine so long as it comes from character. People min/max themselves in real life, and it's totally fine to want your character to be powerful and competent. Just make sure that character comes first, and being maximally effective comes second.
