About Angelfire Games

Welcome to Angelfire Games! I'm Andrew, your game master and I'm glad you're here. TTRPGs have held a special place in my heart for many years and I'm excited to share that with you. I started playing TTRPGs with Dungeons and Dragons when I was a teenager and have expanded in game mastering and playing other RPGs since then. As a game master, I seek to provide a space where my players have the freedom to build characters they love, and to feel like they have an impact on the story. With every game I GM, my goal is to provide an experience where players can hang up their every day hats for a while and become their character as they delve into another world, build friendships, and fight for what they believe in. I hope you're ready to be a part of it. Let's roll some dice.

I became a GM because

TTRPGs provide such a platform for imagination and I love exploring the different themes and ideas within them. Whether it's a kingdom's political system or a character's backstory, there's so much to explore and I love helping players become immersed into the worlds of TTRPGs.

My favorite books are

Do TTRPG source books count? haha

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Intentional. Passionate. Fair.

How Angelfire Games runs games

I strive to create campaigns where players can build characters they love. In any campaign, I want PC’s to feel their actions influence the world and the story. I tailor loot to characters, weave backstories into overall narrative and specific encounters, and design challenges to encourage creative use of character skills. My games are collaborative and character-driven. The world isn’t my world, but our world - their backstories and decisions build our world and guide the story. I encourage exploration, NPC interaction, and backstory shaping character choices. I help players feel immersed through vivid descriptions and NPC interactions. I incorporate a mix of roleplaying, skill challenges and combat. I like giving each player chances to contribute with their unique character strengths and I enjoy creating instances where two or more players can combine their strengths to solve a problem. I reserve character death for boss fights to prevent feeling the need to min-max to avoid death. Outside these, I continue the story from a TPK if it occurs (ex. waking as prisoners in the goblin camp). I once had a group haul a PC’s body through a whole dungeon until they could resurrect the character! The party later said it was one of their favorite parts of the game because saving their friend felt real. Whether new or experienced, my goal is to create a campaign that makes players excited to continue the story each week because they feel like they’ve a hand in shaping the narrative.

I deal with rules issues by...

1. Listening to the players concern 2. Quickly reviewing the rule 3. Quickly look up online sources in reference to the rule 4. Come to resolution that allows fairness for everyone at the table and most importantly have fun :) I welcome homebrew rules/different interpretations if it achieves this

My games focus on...

Mainly story building alongside the character's backstories into the overall narrative. I try to provide opportunities for each character to shine according to the strengths.

Rules are...

A highly recommended guideline in TTRPG's. They sometimes might need to be adjusted a little bit to meet the needs of the group to provide a more fun experience for everyone.

Angelfire Games's ideal table

In a word I would describe my table style as camaraderie. I think it's more fun for everyone when people build characters they love, are invested in the story (both their own character's and the overall narrative), do their homework and enjoy playing together and solving challenges together. I would say my table style falls in the middle between the trolls and the super uptight. I want to create an environment where players care about they're characters and the story, feel like the have the freedom to make decisions their characters would make, and also feel like they can have fun and laugh with their fellow players along the way and we explore worlds together.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Character Development and a balance of roleplaying and combat.

I love it when a player

Makes a decision that is completely in character even if it could lead to the characters death.

My table is not the place for...

Players that are just out for themselves. I like to provide a game experience where everyone gets to be involved and have fun. Share the loot :)
