About Vivian Vanderkolk
Hi there, I'm Vivian! I've been playing TTRPGs for more than a decade, most of which has been spent in the GM's seat. I'm a transgender woman from Drumheller Alberta, that one place with all the dinosaurs. I'm a writer daily, a chef frequently, and a huge nerd 24/7. I'll give any game system a try once, so long as there's some grace if it's my first try. I'm adaptable, and good at improvising on the fly, though I do occasionally need a moment to get some ducks in a row (you know how it is with those ducks).

How Vivian Vanderkolk runs games
I specialize in games that promote player agency in the world, and sandbox settings in particular. Some of my favourite modules to run in any system are The Dark of Hot Springs Island by Swordfish Islands; Neverland from Andrews McMeel Pub.; and the 5e official module Storm King's Thunder. I always employ and enforce safety tool usage as well, as I believe these to be of great importance, and therefore expect my players to take them seriously as well. Lastly, while I will provide calendars and note-taking sheets on occasion, I do expect players (or at least a designated player) to take notes and give their own recaps at the beginning of sessions; this allows me to better understand what the group took away from the last session, and helps me emphasize relevant details on the fly.
