About Aeonforge
I'm Michael, and I'd love to welcome you to my table! I love stories of all kinds and will happily lead you through your own creations by providing a living and breathing worlds where your characters can find their true destiny. My philosophy is simple: fun comes first. I'm a big believer in the "rule of cool": If it makes for an awesome moment or a great story, we'll find a way to make it work. I love when my table erupts in laughter, whether from brilliant roleplay, unexpected shenanigans, or those perfectly timed natural 1s that somehow become the highlight of the session. Everyone is welcome at my table, regardless of experience level, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or you've never touched a d20, whether you're LGBTQ+ or straight, cis or trans – if you're looking for a few hours of escapism and fun, you'll find a safe and inclusive home here. I'm a narrative-focused DM who draws inspiration from all corners of fantasy. Books, movies, TV series, and video games all fuel the stories we'll tell together. You'll probably notice some Critical Role influence in my style, but I always try and adapt to what the table needs and wants. While I tend to lean more toward storytelling and roleplay than heavy combat, I'm flexible and will adjust based on what gets everyone excited. After all, the best game is the one where everyone's having a blast. Ready to roll for destiny in some unforgettable adventures?

My favorite books are
quite a few actually. Throw anything fantasy at me and I'll probably read it. But I tend to regularly return to The Wheel Of Time series and Peter v. Brett's Demon Cycle

How Aeonforge runs games
I'm passionate about creating immersive storytelling experiences where roleplay takes center stage, though I always respect everyone's comfort level and would never pressure anyone to act outside their boundaries. Some players love doing voices and dramatic scenes, others prefer describing their actions, and both approaches (and everything in between) are absolutely welcome at my table. My approach leans heavily into the modern, narrative-driven style of DMing that Matt Mercer has popularized through Critical Role. This means I prioritize collaborative storytelling over rigid rule adherence. While the rules provide our foundation, I see them as guidelines rather than written in stone. If bending or creatively interpreting a rule leads to an epic moment, advances the story in an exciting way, or simply makes the game more fun for everyone, then that's the path we'll take. I believe the best D&D moments happen when players feel empowered to think creatively and attempt bold, cinematic actions. Want to swing from a chandelier while casting a spell? Let's figure out how to make that awesome. Trying to convince the villain through an emotional monologue instead of fighting? I'm here for that character development. Have a wild idea that isn't covered by any specific rule? We'll work together to make it happen in a way that feels fair and exciting. The rules serve the story, not the other way around, and the story belongs to all of us.

Rules are...
the baseline of my games. They can be bended and broken in cases where it is fun to do, but they are the foundation on which we play.
Aeonforge's ideal table
My table has a warm, collaborative atmosphere where laughter is frequent and everyone's voice matters. Picture a group of friends gathered around telling an epic story together – that's the energy I aim for. We celebrate both the triumphant heroic moments and the spectacular failures that become legendary table stories.

I love it when a player
goes out of their way to try and convince me on how an action can work in the current situation. Those are the story elements that no one could anticipate and that make the best memories.
My perfect party mix is
the one that my players are comfortable with playing. Whether you want to play a group of five mages on their quest for the ultimate spell, an army company that has only melee characters or the optimized holy trinity of classes, we'll find a way to make it work. The world is bending to our story
