About Mitchell Phelps

*Lightning snaps, the earth trembles, and a mighty explosive 'thud' echoes through the hazey desert. Stepping forth from a place he was not there before, a mysterious human man in a fancy, though antiquated, hat - and the talking frog beside him - beckons you closer to talk...* My name is Mitchell Phelps, AKA my internet pseudonym "Lazzamore", which I took after from the cartoon frog character you see with me in my picture - his name is "Laz Lazzamore". He's pretty chill for the most part. I have been running TTRPGs both virtually and in person for 7+ years now, and I am proficient in D&D 5e primarily and a bit with PF1e as well. When I run, I like my players to have some ownership of the story and direction, though I am competent in running games with more or less sandbox to the taste of my party. I want my players to enjoy themselves as a group as much as possible and that is really my ultimate job when setting up these games. Anyways, there are some aspects of play I emphasize more then others, so I will list them here to give you an idea of my playstyle as you decide whether it fits with yours or not. - I love eccentric solutions to problems, and reward players for out of the box thinking to problems I present them. - When I present a combat, I try to make them to be on the harder side, because I like long stints of RP broken up by occasional combats that are big and meaningful. This applies less so in dungeon-styled games and more so in other sorts of campaigns. - Intelligent enemies will be, well, intelligent, and often you can have the option to negotiate, if it is logical for that to occur. I also don't really play with the trope of humanoid monsters that are irredeemable, it just isn't really how I tell stories and doesn't come naturally to me, so any non-supernatural, sentient race is liable to contain good and evil members. - I tend to run on the shorter side of sessions (2.5-4 hours) and have a decently quick pace due to my experience being mostly in the realm of self-contained Organized Play sessions. I'm very proud of the community I help manage in that area. Feel free to ask about my OP group if you come to enjoy my GMing and want to game with me outside of longer-form campaigns! - I will observe content requests pertaining to avoiding your triggers after I am told of them. A detailed discussion of each players lines and veils, among other safety tools I am practiced with, will be had during session 0. - I value roleplay and, while my pace is quick, I try to allow for plenty of it. I know when I play, I appreciate the space to express my characters thoughts, and I try to leave enough room to my players for that, as long they don't infringe on the spotlight of one and other.

How Mitchell Phelps runs games

I enjoy RP most, out of the pillars. I like to space out combat to allow for it, and make the fewer combats I run each more deadly. I do character voices and tend to refer to RAW unless I feel the story and gameplay is better served otherwise.
