Professional Game MasterHarper he/him
Hello, adventurers. I turned to Start Playing in hopes of finding people who want to play D&D on a consistent basis. When not playing D&D, I am a 4th and 5th grade ELA teacher. I also run social-skill groups for neurodiverse kids, which is how I got back into table-top gaming and ended up running a weekly Pokemon league. I love collaborative storytelling and high adventure, working with other players to create stories involving danger, drama, and excitement. I have been playing D&D since the mid-80s, but I only started seriously running 5E about two years ago. The two biggest influences on my DMing style are my love of history and the sword & sorcery fantasy genre. I love players who create strong characters who will make their mark on the Realms.
While I never go full grimdark, I do try to keep as much realism in the game as possible. Yes, I might be that DM who actually tracks rations and encourages you to track ammunition and spell components. Limitations force us to be more creative, and overcoming challenges makes the game more rewarding for everybody. However, I never let the rules get in the way of a good story. I enjoy role-playing, exploration, and combat equally. There will be detailed depictions of violence, but I try not to go over the top. I enjoy humor, but I also appreciate players who monitor their air time, so that everybody has a chance to role-play.
