About me

Hi! I’m Joe and I love stories. Movies, books, music, but mostly stories told through games. Stories I experience instead of witness. I love building those stories and watching them spontaneously grow and evolve into something you wouldn’t expect. RPGs are best for this and I use my games to allow the players to feel like their choices matter. Like they are in the movies and shows they love and encourage them to go forth into a world of possibility and exercise their freedom. This world is yours. It’s up to you to take it. I love to onboard new players and show them the reasons i love these wonderful games we play. I welcome all people, regardless of background, creed, race, religion, orientation or anything like that. If you're kind to me, I'll be kind to you and I want you to roll some dice. :)

GM Style

My engagement with the three pillars of play (role play, combat and exploration) fluctuate but primarily I stand to tell a good story first and use all three when needed. My combats are brutal and matter, rarely will a fight serve no purpose and even more rarely will you not be challenged. The question of whether you should use all of your abilities to slay this dragon will need to be answered by figuring out if there’s another dragon in the next room. I’m pretty good with voices but my role play really comes from characters with interesting motivations. A character who is silly for silly sake is fun and needed for a good story, but a character who is silly to make you think he’s a fool while he’s planning your demise? That’s vital. We need complicated characters to make the world they live in seem plausible. I hope your characters are complicated. I admit exploration is not my forte and my games tend to limit it. That’s not to say you’ll ever fjord a raging river or scale a tower in the middle of the wood. You will but those instances are used sparingly and they inform the story in significant ways. Overall, I think I’m a fairly balanced DM who uses my tool kit to curate memorable experiences for my players and myself.
