About me
Welcome adventurer! I am Marc, your game master and guide, who will take you through a harrowing world where danger and possibility exist around every corner! My personal adventure to become a DM began like so many others; as a player. I spent many, many years playing in countless campaigns, some to level 20! However, my inner creative had a love for building rich characters and crafting stories, and NPC’s, out around those characters. Right away, I knew that I wanted to sit behind the DM screen instead of in front of it. At my core, I am a storyteller, who, whether through theater, creative writing, or simply shared laughs around a campfire, have enjoyed bringing stories to life in a variety of mediums. From as early as I can remember I felt at home in fantastical immersive storytelling, whether high fantasy or sci-fi, or adventures set in the American old west. TTRPG’s became a natural extension for me as both a voracious reader and writer. Later on I would go on to earn my BFA in English Literature and Creative Writing. As your DM I will bring my love of rich storytelling to the table to provide you with the opportunity to build detailed characters and explore backstory in a layered world, even within a structured module. Whether you are brand new to TTRPG’s or you’ve been playing them all your life, I will be sure to tailor each session to create an inclusive, friendly table where every player gets a moment to shine, and where your backstory actually matters. Pack your adventuring gear, and sharpen your swords, as together we set out to explore dark dungeons, uncover secret plots, and face legendary monsters and foes to create a story uniquely your own!
GM Style
I enjoy games with moving narrative, and multi-dimensional characters. I believe that combat should enhance the storytelling, rather than feel like a required component for every encounter. I like to use fun voices to give NPC’s life, and certainly encourage players to explore ways to make their own characters unique. I reward creative gameplay, including creative problem solving, and unique and unexpected use of mechanics to advance the story. I follow RAW, but believe in the “rule of cool.” At my table, mechanics and rules are meant to provide the framework for collaborative storytelling, but if they impede the story I reserve the right to alter at will. Rule lawyers and murder hobos are not likely going to have a good time at my table. Creative roleplayers who seek immersion and fun will find a welcoming home at the Sauce Factory. Parties should be unified and work together towards a common goal to explore the adventure and minimize inter-party conflict and potential PVP situations. My games tend to be 70 RP/30 combat. This way combat encounters will feel more dangerous and consequential. I use AboveVTT as the preferred tabletop, with Discord for voice. I allow for the use of rolling in DNDBeyond or physical dice, because who doesn’t love the feel of rolling real dice? We’re all adults and you’re paying to play. Use of cameras is encouraged but by no means is it required.
