About the adventure

SEE RECRUITING NOTES FIRST This is a long-run game that won't fizzle out! Want to experience what it's like to develop a character over 15 level-ups? All experience levels welcome, especially beginners! --- "Pull up a chair and tell me the tale of how you became a hero! Verily, dare I say, a Savior of the Sword Coast! Ah yes...yes, it all began in Phandalin. Yes, yes of course I know it! Who doesn't! Phabulous Phandalin, indeed!...Go on...What was it like when you first arrived?" . . . "Welcome Adventurer! So glad you are here! We can use the help and the town is willing to pay for it!" It all begins in tiny town of Phandalin. The specific reason for you being there will be determined in Session 0, and your adventure story is woven from here forward. Monsters, miners, hunters, dark wizards, evil cultists, orcs (of course there are orcs!), some vile undead, and we can't forget DRAGONS! And it ends (but does it EVER end?) with you as a hero! But it starts in Phandalin. This is a town of well meaning and determined folk who just seem to need heroes to defend them. There are some great folks in town...and apparently some not so great ones that might need some dealing with. And then there's that white dragon that a few folks have spotted in the skies! Well, they are pretty sure it's a dragon. Will you help protect the tiny town of Phandalin and others who are trying to live freely in the wilds southeast of Neverwinter? Of course you will! This is why we are going to get along. As players in this customized campaign, you will also have access to the entire set of D&D rules while playing in this campaign. I will provide for you access to my books on D&D Beyond (no need for you to buy anything) and we will use Foundry VTT as our virtual tabletop. Full technical and game hand-holding as much as you like until you get comfortable. This will also be a great game for you to try out and develop your "Critical Role" voice acting, if you want, without judgement or criticism. We are going to have a blast!

Additional Details

How to prepare

You will need to have the following: 1. A working mic (webcam optional, but highly encouraged!) 2. A free D&D Beyond account set up (dndbeyond.com) 4. A free Discord account and Discord software set up on your computer (or mobile works) (and working with your mic/webam). If you need it, I will send you a link to install the extension, and a link to be invited into the campaign on DnDBeyond.com. We will use Discord to chat before and between game sessions on a private server.

What I provide

I will provide access to all the rule books (way more than you need, but you will have access to them all while in this campaign) via D&D Beyond (DDB). You will be able to look at them all from your own free DDB account. I will create and manage a private Discord server just for this campaign. You will be able to chat with other players and me between sessions. You will also get one-on-one coaching with character creation, game-strategy, and a gaming experience with a patient, veteran DM. I love throwing a lot of character and personality into how I run games.

Gameplay details

In it's initial form, this campaign may bring content that will include: Alcohol use, fantasy violence, monstrous foes, dark magic, and death. As a custom experience designed specifically for your comfort level we will discuss during our first sessions what themes you are comfortable with, willing to explore, etc. We will use the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist (found here: https://mcpl.info/sites/default/files/images/consent-in-gaming-form-fillable-checklist-2019-09-13.pdf) and use this as a guide for the campaign. Should we encounter something that unexpectedly makes you uncomfortable, you will be able to signal in-game chat with an "X" as a hard stop, "N" as a signal that we might be headed toward and X and proceed carefully, and "O" as a signal of approved content and to keep it coming. The player will always have respectful responses and have full control over the content. Be assured that the player can leave or take a break from the game for their own safety and well-being without being judged. There will be NO adult or sexually-oriented material at all (that is an X for the DM), and the game will be tailored to the kind of role-playing experience you want to learn or try. This will be a great opportunity to work on your "Critical Role" voice acting in a game with some guidance and NO JUDGEMENT. We are here to have fun and learn how to play the ways that bring us great memories and stories to tell!

How will character creation work

We will cover character creation in D&D Beyond together in our group's private Discord server, and then test out Foundry VTT together to make sure you are all set! We will collaborate on a custom backstory that weaves you directly into the main and sub-plots of campaign! You won't be just an adventurer trying to make your way in a dangerous world...you will be a central figure in the main plotlines!

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
