About the adventure

**Please 🙏🙏🙏 don’t sign up if you can’t make it.** 90% of people that sign up ghost me or cancel last minute, which just kills it for the remaining players. **TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Due to the technically complex nature of this adventure you CAN'T play with an old computer (8+ years old), old laptop (7+ years old), Chromebook, tablet, phone, or slow internet. 💻** IMPORTANT: This adventure plays much like a cooperative board game. Working as a team you'll overcome many obstacles that will challenge your mind and your resources. While the adventure has many D&D 5e gameplay features, it is not your typical D&D roleplaying experience. There's little NPC banter for example. If you were to place Matt Mercer (or other such actors) at one end of the roleplaying spectrum, I stand proudly at the pinnacle of the opposite end. By design, pushing classic improv voice acting to the backseat, I offer an experience unique from all other DMs. While there's still plenty of story within the adventure, I focus on puzzles that challenge the players themselves rather than their characters. All while trying to deliver fasted paced gameplay that keeps players engaged. My adventures contain many unique mini-games, custom-built for the Foundry virtual tabletop. If we're playing with a virtual tabletop, we may as well use it in ways that you couldn't normally play D&D in real life. I embrace the digital platform and cater to its strengths. That being said, this style of play is a radical change from the norms and because of that, this adventure is not for everyone. If you're looking to explore your character's troubled past or dig into your character's virtues, this adventure may not be for you. It's important to note that role-playing is certainly not discouraged and players can act out their characters to their heart's content. Here's a link for more details on the style of my one-shot adventures. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTeq1Alk8fgp6SwzO1Oez3rHmDImChZStUNPV_Sd8J0ydTAeMv4wnIceOTT5CUNrFoFkkj4t4BrZ_Re/pub ***3.5 HOURS LONG*** BACKSTORY: You’ve been ripped from your bed in the middle of the night, sucked into a mysterious portal. You find yourself in the company of a dark angel. You must complete a series of challenges if you and your people wish to survive. 1. My adventures feature many mini-games that are inspired by mechanics seen in such games as Yahtzee, Catan, worker placement, push your luck, word games, and many many more. Each mini-game is driven by the stats of your characters and uses D&D rules to help integrate it into a unified play style. 2. The adventure is very silly and light-hearted fun 🤪 3. You'll engage in tactical combat using grid-based battle maps ⚔️ 4. There will be MANY PUZZLES that challenge you as a player 🧩 Character Level: Bring a level 4 character from www.dndbeyond.com Voice Chat: Discord Voice Chat https://discord.gg/mwfXB6mnRD

How to prepare

IMPORTANT: Due to the technically complex nature of this adventure it's not advised to play with an older computer or slow internet. 1. Stable internet connection 2. Must be in North America because any connection that's further will have connection issues 3. A relatively modern computer capable of running both Discord and a web browser such as Google Chrome (Foundry struggles with Safari browser) 4. A mouse is a must because a trackpad will be very difficult to use with Foundry 5. Discord (free) with Mic and relatively quiet surroundings are required 6. Create a character on www.dndbeyond.com (free) and send me the link at least 6 hours before the session starts 7. Have a very basic understanding of the D&D 5e rules Voice chat is a must, and we'll be using Discord for Voice Chat. Here is a link to the Voice Chat Channel in Discord. https://discord.gg/hqHe9dAQCx PLEASE NOTE: Foundry has a minimum resolution of 1366x768 which can become an issue if you're using a very small laptop. Additionally, even in Foundry's "Low-Performance Mode" people with laptops that are 6-7 years old have encountered frame rates around 20FPS and up to a few seconds lag. If you have an old laptop or computer it will probably still be playable, but you will need to turn on "Low-Performance Mode" within Foundry and there will be some input lag. Foundry will not run on a tablet or phone, but you can use them for Discord if you wish.

Gameplay details

This adventure plays more like a cooperative board game than it does the roleplaying D&D style you’re used to. If you’ve played the board games Pandemic, Ghost Stories, Gloomhaven, 5-Minute Dungeon, Spirit Island, Castle Panic, Mansions of Madness, Descent, and Star Wars: Imperial Assault, then you’ll be in line with what I’m trying to achieve. If you don’t like playing cooperative board games, then this adventure might not be the best fit for you. In the game, the board governs all the rules instead of the DM. This makes the game at times more challenging since there are fewer on-the-fly DM judgment calls to help a player survive an unlucky role, or provide extra guidance when the players are stuck. I’ve seen the smartest of players get destroyed and others with incredible cooperation rise to victory. It really does create a different cooperative-focused challenge that, for the most part, is only sparsely in other D&D adventures. Whereas I bring that cooperation to the front and center for the entirety of the adventure. My goal’s to deliver a different take on D&D, simply because few have tried it. For better or for worse, at least at the end of the day, we can say we tried something different. This adventure is rated PG-13. You may experience the following during this adventure: 1. Alcohol Reference - Reference to and/or images of alcoholic beverages 2. Tobacco Reference - Reference to and/or images of tobacco products 3. Simulated Gambling - Players can gamble without betting or wagering real cash or currency 4. Crude Humor - Depictions or dialogue involving vulgar antics, including "bathroom" humor 5. Fantasy Violence - Violent actions of a fantasy nature, involving human or non-human characters in situations easily distinguishable from real life 6. Animated Blood - Discolored and/or unrealistic depictions of blood The devil is a nasty little thing that certainly won't be nice to players. 😈 ***I can cater and adjust content for any age group if I'm informed beforehand*** CODE OF CONDUCT 1. No sexual content 2. Treat players with respect 3. No picking on fellow characters 4. No torturing or slaving captured NPCs 5. Let each player have a chance to voice their thoughts

How will character creation work

You will require a level 4 character created in www.dndbeyond.com which is free to use. Please make sure to complete your character at www.dndbeyond.com and send me a link to your character at least 6 HOURS BEFORE THE START OF THE GAME. I import your characters from dndbeyond.com into Foundry. You can roll, attack, and casts spells from www.dndbeyond.com and link those rolls to Foundry using the Chrome extension "Beyond20" https://beyond20.here-for-more.info/ You can use the Foundry interface as it's extremely fluid and easy to use. Here's a link to my discord channel outlining how to link the Beyond20 Chrome extension to Foundry. It's very easy. https://discord.gg/Pjgh8rBPMV In my foundry-how-to-setup channel https://discord.gg/26egJtvBzU you can see how to use it and get started with the program. It's just as easy as Roll20 and very intuitive (make an Insight DC 8 check).
