About the adventure

Welcome, People of Tahrik, to The Archetype Trials! If you have received an invitation to this prestigious event, then you've been recognized as an exceptional individual within our world. In these Trials you will face a series of challenges created by the very Archetypes that you are seeking to inherit! But be warned, dangers lurk in these trials, and survival is not guaranteed. Should you still be willing to enter the gates of the Tower, present your invitation, and enter our hallowed halls. Good luck, and may you live to see the dawn! In the land of Tahrik, there are no gods. Instead there are Archetypes, six incredibly powerful individuals who were once mortals, but won the Archetype Trials in their time and ascended. Every 200 years, the Archetypes choose to pass their powers to the next generation via their trials. The trials take place in the Tower of Starlight, a beacon to the world of hope and salvation. The Trials are broadcast across Tahrik, and Starlight City is abuzz preparing for the event. Meet the Archetypes. Face the Trials. Ascend.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a webcam and mic. Character sheets will be maintained via DnDBeyond, but integration will occur with Roll20 for any battlemaps. Players may use physical dice or digital dice at their own choice. Games will occur over Zoom, with the Discord being used for offline organization. Please make sure you have a Roll20 account, a Discord account, a D&D Beyond Account, and a microphone + webcam. A laptop camera and headphone mic is more than acceptable for this game. All players must abide by the safety tools in place. If there are any questions or issues, please direct them to myself.

What I provide

I will bring the following: - Zoom Premium - Roll20 - Advanced Knowledge of the Rules - Custom Abilities - D&D Beyond Campaign with Access to all Compendiums - A love of your characters and their stories

Gameplay details

The players will be playing characters in the world of Tahrik (a homebrewed world). The PCs will have received invitations to join the Archetype Trials before the campaign begins. The group will start out in a caravan on its way to Starlight City, about 2 days travel away from the town. Once they arrive in Starlight City, the party will be swept into the events of The Archetype Trials and face the challenges the Tower holds. The typical session will involve a lot of roleplay, some puzzle solving, and maybe combat. The Archetype Trials is not a dark or gritty campaign, but we will still be using safety tools at our table to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves. CW: Monsters, Magic, Power, Fantasy The Safety Tools in use for this game are "Lines & Veils", "Stars & Wishes", "X,N,O Cards", and "Open-Door Policy". Session 0 will include a dedicated explanation of those safety tools for all players.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level 1. They will be created using D&DBeyond. Stats will be determined via point buy. Characters should be new adventurers or heroes. Tahrik is a diverse world without the racism and colonialism that you might expect from your typical fantasy worlds. The GM will work with you to build your PC should you need help, but you are more than welcome to take any of the races or classes that you have access to via the D&DBeyond Campaign (Besides UA). By the time your characters reach Starlight City, you will be level 3!

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
