About the adventure

About the Adventure: This is a 5e adaptation of the Pathfinder Adventure Path Skulls and Shackles in the Spelljammer/Astral Sea setting. The player characters start press-ganged as a crew of a spelljammer and go through pirate adventures: plundering, getting their own spelljammer and impressing Pirate Lords to even a full fleet combat. This campaign will shine in all the areas of roleplay, combat and breathing room for inter-character roleplay/development along with exploration of Wildspace. The general premise of the adventure covers the three pillars of D&D (Exploration, Combat and Social Interaction) very well and leaves room for players to decide rather than be on rails. About the DM: Hello! I’m Thom! I’ve been DMing games for 5E for about 5 years (more if you include other editions and systems). I love to set up the stage for my players to have a positive and memorable experience. While I prep heavily for games, I also am very flexible and can improvise easily to create a more enjoyable time at the table. Nothing worse than being kept to “the plans” when you, the player, have a cool idea that gets shut down. I try my best to encourage a positive and creative gaming environment that is inclusive to many play styles and players. Why Pay to Play: It keeps the Forge + content that is used subscriptions going, it adds new resources and modules as they’re released, and occasionally it buys me a flagon of ale here and there. What do you get out of it? You get a game that is more tailored to you and more in-depth. A Foundry game with a fully stocked compendium* for your usage. A DM/GM who will go the extra mile to make sure you can enjoy the game and get more intricate with things like backstories or character elements you’d like to have. (Along with the standard accouterments, such as commercially licensed music/ambient packs, properly dynamically lit maps, VTT enhanced animations, custom icons, custom artwork and handouts). I'll be commissioning revamped maps from the original Adventure Path to fit Spelljammer as well. *Incl. PHB, MM, DMG, Volos, MToF, XGtE, GMGTR, Creature Codex, Tomb of Beasts 1 & 2, Deep Magic, Vault of Magic, Eberron, EGtW, Theros, Tasha's, SCAG, VGtR, FToD, SCC, MMoM and more. Game Details: • Foundry VTT through the Forge for the game and Discord for voice communication. • All official Wizards of the Coast material allowed for the adventure • Unearthed Arcana and 3rd party mostly is allowed, but will probably require a quick glance to make sure it is suitable/balanced. • Time: 6:30PM CDT to 10:00PM CDT on Tuesdays (weekly) • Character levels 1-16+ • Zero tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or any other prejudice. How to prepare

1) Please have a working microphone. Webcam is not necessary. 2) A basic grasp of the rules can be beneficial, but I don't mind teaching! 3) Same can be said for using Foundry VTT, but I'll teach as I go.

What I provide

After each session I usually do a post-game summary from the perspective of either an omniscient npc or someone the player's met in the game. I have all sorts of tools for token creation, character creation, battlemaps, etc.

Gameplay details

Safety Tools: I will distribute a google form version of the RPG Consent in Gaming document and we can discuss any triggers either openly or through direct message. I use an in-game anonymous add-on for the X card. In regards to aftercare, after an intense session, I will ask how everyone is doing and follow up from there. Session 0: I have a little bit of a syllabus put together that covers everything from expectations you can have from me, to my expectations, what will and won't be in the game, house rules, character creation and tie ins through the background generator. It is admittedly a bit longwinded but I'd prefer to be thorough than neglect something accidentally. I will also send out a form based on a variation of the Bartle Taxonomy of Player's key so that I can adapt the campaign to fit.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be during session 0, the characters will begin at level one. They will be created in-game, but I don't if you have an idea that you'd like to bring over as long as it fits (spotlight sharing is important).
