About the adventure

In the cold and snowy expanses of the northern steppes lies a large town, a remnant of an aged past, by the name of Oursen's Hold. It is one of five other settlements that inhabit the north, all of which have been independently governed by their citizens, here our journey begins... A walled in metropolis that is far from its glory days, buildings and walls in ruins, and a faction war on the edge of anarchy. It was the veritable hub of trade in magical artifacts, trinkets, and arms and armor. The dangers lurk behind crumbled castle walls. Unknown treasures beneath its vaults deep into the earth below. A mine that has been abandoned for a century as no one has returned. Rumors of a cult on the rise. People are starting to slowly disappear without a trace as well. Oursen's Hold once housed the best smithies in all of the region, but with the fall of the mines a century ago, has since become a stagnant cesspool for some of the north's most notorious characters and creatures. There has been an ongoing feud within its walls between three guilds: 🍻 The Bearded Few - a misfit clan bound together by friendship, tall tales, and usually several rounds of ales. Made up of mostly humans, there are a handful of dwarves and halflings, with only one half-orc. 🔨 The Hammer-Shields - oldest guild in the Hold, also the closest thing the populace has as guards. It consists of a mix of races that have each sworn to provide justice and protection to its citizens. 🩸 The Ravenscars - a known group of criminals, cutthroats, bandits, pickpockets and thieves. Initiation into the group is requires the leader's pet raven to initiates faces as a pecking and scratching post. They’ve been less subtle and more organized of late and have added the title of “assassins'' to their repertoire. How will your story unfold in this cold and unforgiving city?

Content Warnings: These are some of the things that we MAY encounter during play but is not limited to - debauchery, maiming, violence, abuse and death of children/animals/elderly, curse words, torture, kidnapping/abduction. Code of Conduct: Rule #1: All Players are expected to come ready to play with good attitudes. If you're not feeling up to playing, or if you cannot make a game just let me know that you'll be missing the session. Please inform me ASAP so I can adjust for the next session, and accommodate the other players. Rule #2: Every session is assumed to be planned to play. In order for a session to commence, typically there must be at least 3 players confirmed for attendance. The players may opt to postpone a game if they do not want to continue the narrative without the missing players or PCs. Rule #3: As GM/DM, I have final say on the rules and rulings. I usually favor the Rule of Fun, but I refuse to waste everyone's time arguing about anything that doesn't contribute to the progressing the narrative, or interesting RP. If any player feels I may have missed something or would like to make a suggestion, or statement they are free to do so. In the most extreme cases, if we can't come to a resolution, and the matter isn't dropped, this may result in the ending of a session, and/or expulsion from the game entirely. Rule #4: State what your character is doing either overtly or through messaging me directly. If you do not state what your PC is doing, I will make assumptions and make decisions based on them. Do not withhold information from me or speak in an ambiguous manner about your PC's actions, as this can lead to confusion. Be as clear as possible. Declare your intentions and intent on battle maps before moving your token(s) just in case there needs to be clarifications. "I would like to open the door..." "I want to check for traps..." "I want to try and move to..." etc.. From Me: Do not feel ashamed of having to miss sessions. I only ask, if at all possible, to be let known before hand. No need to tell me or any of the other players the reasons, and there is no need to apologize. I will do my best to inform the group of cancelled or rescheduled sessions. I want you as players to have fun, and for your PC's to succeed, and will give advice or guidance if asked. I will never intentionally place your PC or have you engage in situations or scenarios you are not comfortable with - if an instance like this occurs, simply state it and I will deviate and correct as needed.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen with the use of the paid version of Pathbuilder as it supports the use of DUAL-CLASSED PCs, and is easily imported into Foundry VTT. Your PC should be ready and sent over to me before the next session so I may import it into the game and prepare any special features for the sheet and token. I'll need an image to best represent your PC and any companions as well.
