Season of Ghosts
Something has gone horribly wrong with the annual spirit festival! In the small forest town of Willowshore, folk consider the rituals to welcome the season of summer and honor the spirits of the Specterwood absolutely sacred. But this year, the festivities are disrupted by a malevolent curse; some hometown heroes will need to step up and face the terrifying spirits of the Season of Ghosts! And they may find the curse at the heart of things runs deeper than expected… Willowshore had better prepare for one of its most dangerous and eventful years in history! Season of Ghosts is a four-part Adventure Path for the second edition of the Pathfinder roleplaying game. Each part takes place during one season of a full year in the small, monster-haunted town of Willowshore in the Asia-inspired Tian Xia setting. Players are encouraged to create characters who reside in Willowshore, as the four adventures will take them from small-time local heroes at level 1, to 12th-level movers and shakers! Season of Ghosts leans into the horror elements of Pathfinder, as players contend with malevolent ghosts, fiendish demons, and sinister curses.

I absolutely love Season of Ghosts - I am running five groups through this adventure! The mini-sandbox region, singular home town, and emphasis of downtime between horror moments - its a great scenario that'll offer the breathing room to develop and explore the player characters and world. As a player, if you want to establish relations with NPCs and develop them over four in-game seasons, all while uncovering a deeper mystery, this could be for you! With its emphasis of roleplay and exploration, I think its a great first campaign for beginners to tabletop roleplaying games and/or Pathfinder Second Edition. Just don't read any spoilers! As a Gamemaster, I heavily recommend reading all four books to understand the greater mystery! If your group seems to be completing things quicker at the earlier stages you'll have some options to start later season events without breaking anything - or at least be inspired and can then make your own. Definitely consider what NPCs are your favourites and see which NPCs have scripted events! You'll have the freedom to involve certain NPCs over others, especially if your Players have grown attached to one over another.
Season of Ghosts is Paizo's current magnum opus when it comes to Pathfinder 2e adventure paths and perfect for those looking for something a bit different from the usual published adventures. It's narratively cohesive with very little hiccups from start to end and it all takes place in a centralized location outside of the usual Inner Sea Region where most Pf2e adventures take place. It's also chock full of monsters inspired by Asian mythology and horror instead of trolls, dragons, and goblins. There are of awesome non-combat moments in the AP and skill based characters like a Rogue or Investigator can really shine. This AP is also full of great roleplay opportunities as well. Despite it being horror there's also a lot of Paizo's trademark levity and humor intermixed throughout the module. It took us 10 months to complete from start to finish and upon completing it I immediately set out to GM it for my home group.
I’m currently playing in a Seasons of Ghosts campaign that has just passed the halfway point. I am thoroughly enjoying the story so far and like the chance to play in another area of the Pathfinder world. Season of Ghosts is a horror-themed campaign with influences from many different cultures across Asia which don’t see as much representation in traditional fantasy roleplaying games. This also allows for other options in character creation that may not fit in other campaigns since they are location specific. Like all Pathfinder campaigns, Season of Ghosts also offers brand new character options in each book. From new Backgrounds and skills, to new spells and rituals in later chapters.
