    About the adventure

"The church is unusually hot today as 15 year old Erica sits with her mother and father. The preacher drones on and on and on at the front of the church, the harsh sun bathing him in bright red light from the elaborate stained glass window behind him. Erica isn't sure if it's the long boring service or the heat but she feels exhausted. Her eyelids feel heavy. In this sleepy daze Erica swears she sees Mary in the stained glass move. Mary's hands once clasped at her breast in prayerful somber pose, now held out above her head. A venomous look spreads across her face. Staring down towards the preacher. Suddenly the altar bursts into flames, the violent orange tongues lick at the pastor and quickly spread throughout the floor towards the pews and bibles are thrown around the church by some invisible force. Parishioners scream and cry out in pain as the hell scape consumes them and the church. The beautiful stained glass windows burst over the crowd. Quickly people escape. The church stands behind them picture perfect - no flames to be found." When the Agency of Unexplained Happenings hears rumors about this churches collective hallucination, they believe something more is at work . Can The Agency get to the bottom of this hellish rebuke? This mystery takes place in the 1970's and exudes a Twin Peaks x Supernatural vibe. Adventure is from Monster of the Week's Tome of Mysteries.

    Gameplay details

"Most people don't believe in monsters, but you know the truth. They're real, and it's your task to bring them down." Monster of the Week (MoTW) is a D6 based TTRPG inspired by urban fantasy, monster centered TV. Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, or X-Files. Each player creates a character or "Hunter" who has chosen to devote their life to killing monsters. The Hunters will work together to investigate weird situation, handle monsters who cause trouble (either slaying or "managing" them), and saving people who are in danger. Monster of the Week is high role-play game centered around investigating weird mysteries and slaying monsters. For players there will not be a lot of planning and character creation only takes a few moments. From a GM perspective there is a bit more planning than other TTRPG's as Monster of the Week can have a very involved world lore and rely a lot on GM imagination and planning to run smoothly - as literally almost anything is a possibility.
