About the adventure

Always wanted to play D&D but didn't know where or how to begin? This is the short campaign for you! This five-part "Learn to Play" series will focus each of the first three sessions on one of the three traditional "pillars" of RPGs: combat, exploration, and social interaction/roleplaying. The fourth and fifth sessions will combine all of these aspects into a single "one-shot" adventure. In the first three sessions, we will be using pre-generated characters, and before the fourth session, the GM will work with each player to create a character for the final adventure. A free session zero will be provided to discuss what each player is comfortable with including in future sessions and to build an understanding between the players to ensure the highest possible level of comfort and enjoyment for everyone.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone. A webcam is optional. I'll supply links to download the free Fantasy Grounds Virtual Tabletop if you don't already have a copy and to join the Eye Wonder Artistry & Games Discord server, where the voice channel is located. All other materials will be shared by the DM. Reading some of the Basic D&D rules or the Player's Handbook is helpful but not necessary.

What I provide

At the end of the last session, each player will receive a sketch of the character they create for the final adventure, as well as a group picture of all the characters together to commemorate their first full adventure as a party.

Gameplay details

Session 1 will be about Combat and will be the most "rules heavy" of the initial three sessions, but with an additional focus on combat tactics. Session 2 is about Exploration and Skill Use and will concentrate on a mix of rules and exploration tactics . Session 3 will be about Social Interaction/Roleplaying and is likely to be the lightest in terms of rules and focus more on player and character interaction. The final session will combine everything we covered in the first three sessions.
