Hollow Hotel: A Fear Itself Game

About the adventure

Portland, Oregon, 1921. The grand opening of the Hotel Cotegra. It’s owner, Mr. Glynn, had pulled out all of the stops for this event. Live music, lights, and, in spite of prohibition, the speakeasy was fully stocked. It was supposed to be a night full of wonders. From there, details of the event that would be known as The Cortegra Massacre are unclear. Known facts are that while there were 30 guests checked in for the night, only 2 checked out the next morning. When the police investigated the hotel, no bodies were found. What was left were broken mirrors, torn sheets, and nonsense scrawled out on legal pads, carved into desktops, and written on walls in blood. The hotel was quickly shut down. There was no evidence incriminating Mr. Glynn and he was just as confused as the detectives as to what happened. So it was just an empty building. That is until today, the grand re-opening of the Hotel Cotegra. What will this event hold for its guests and what echoes of the past will make their presence known?

How to prepare

You will need a working webcam and microphone. Make sure you have Discord and Zoom accounts (both free). We'll go over how the system works, character creation, and anything else necessary during session zero.

Gameplay details

This is a game of supernatural horror and mystery. You will be playing guests at the Hotel Cotegra, staying there for different reasons but all encountering the ghosts of the massacre and the demons that drove them to their ends. Will you identify the cause of the horrors? And more importantly, will you escape it or become another victim? Content warnings for this include death, blood, violence. Other things may be involved, but they will be cleared using our safety tools: lines and veils and X, N, and O cards. We will also be using session zero, open table policy, and stars and wishes.

How will character creation work

We will walk through character creation together during the session zero.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
