About the adventure

Play by Post Mini-Campaign Beginners through Advanced players welcome! Discord / D&D Beyond / Avrae This game will be played via asynchronous text. This means I will post narration, images, and prompts in Discord text channels and the players will respond by posting there as well. Instead of playing live from session to session, you can post when you have the time to do so at any point in the day, when it is convenient for you, at your leisure (though ideally not with gaps too long in time, to keep things moving at a decent pace). This takes some of the pressure off, allowing the players and DM more time to think about their next moves. Discord will be used in conjunction with D&D Beyond and Avrae (which integrates the two platforms). AboveVTT, a Chrome browser extension, will be used to share maps when needed (usually for combat and/or exploration). I am more than happy to help guide you through the process if needed. I use rich text formatting and imagery to bring the story to life. DEATH HOUSE is an optional opening adventure meant to take players from levels 1 to 3. I will likely continue with the rest of the CURSE OF STRAHD module, in which case any players would be welcome to keep the story going. New characters of 3rd level would be brought in as needed to fill the group. You can join the Discord server here to see my other Play-by-Post games in action. I’ve only just recently started hosting these types of games but am loving it, and I think you will as well! The fee will be charged weekly. Though I hope you would want to see the story through, you can of course cancel anytime for any reason. We will take as long as needed to complete the Death House adventure.

How to prepare

No webcam or mic needed. The game will be played completely via "Play-by-Post" text on Discord (and using other supplemental software). You will be able to roll using your D&D Beyond character sheets. You will need to install the AboveVTT Chrome extension.

What I provide

I own all content on D&D Beyond and will share it for character creation and leveling.

Gameplay details

All gameplay will take place on my Discord server via text posts (link will be provided when you join) in conjunction with other tools including D&D Beyond, AboveVTT and Avrae. Full instructions will be provided and guidance is offered.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at Level 1. You will roll Ability Score stats on Discord using Avrae (and then can choose to keep them or use Standard Array or Point Buy instead). All races and classes are open for consideration but considering the Ravenloft setting, it is preferable to keep the characters grounded and more on the serious than silly side. I strongly encourage a well-developed backstory and can assist with that if needed. DEATH HOUSE will take your character (should they survive) to Level 3. It is very likely I will offer to continue with the Curse of Strahd campaign, which can take your character beyond that level. If so, it will of course be your option to continue or not.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
