About the adventure

"CAN YOU CHANGE FATE?" ⏳ Race Against Rivals? ✔️ 🛕 Explore desert ruins? ✔️ 🌊 Delve into strange depths? ✔️ 💎 Discover Extraordinary Artifacts? ✔️ From the Wastes of Xhorhas, to the glimmering oasis-city of Ank'Harel on the continent of Marquet, to the sunken realm of gloom, corruption, and sorrow known as the Netherdeep, the greed of mortals has awakened a powerful entity long thought destroyed. For eons, this mighty champion of the gods has been imprisoned in the darkest depths of Exandria. His name has been forgotten, as have his heroic deeds. Languishing in despair, he calls out for new heroes to save him. Above it all, the red moon of Ruidus watches, twisting the fates of those who have the power to shape the course of history. Inspired by the campaigns of the hit series Critical Role, “Unwelcome Spirits” and "Call of the Netherdeep" are Exandrian adventures that take characters from 1st to 13th level. This campaign is open to players of all experience levels, whether you're new to the game or a veteran, all are welcome!

How to prepare

Familiarity with the DnD 5e ruleset would be a plus, but I am happy to run through the basics with newer players in either the one-on-one or group prep sessions. We will be discussing the new rules/mechanics introduced in the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount sourcebook in the group session zero, and will have another session to discuss the same for the Call of the Netherdeep adventure book. You are welcome to read them on your own when accessible. Webcam encouraged but not necessary. Mics are a must; text will only be used for sharing notes. We will be using DnD Beyond for rolling characters and dice, and Discord for group voice/video/text chat (depending on connectivity, voice/video may be moved to a Google Meet call). Our virtual tabletop for maps and illustrations will be Owlbear Rodeo. All tools mentioned are browser based, but Discord may additionally be installed as a desktop or mobile app via the following link: https://discord.com/download

What I provide

- I bring all sourcebooks and character options on DnD Beyond, which will be shared once players join the official campaign page. - Character models will be made either by me or the respective player via the Hero Forge character model creator, after which I will create a separate token for use in our Virtual Tabletop. - Maps are either custom-made by myself through use of the Dungeon Alchemist AI map creator or will be sourced from a curated list of talented artists, whose licenses I will have purchased for use in our game. - A playlist of theme appropriate ambient soundtracks and music will be specifically curated. Players are encouraged to request other soundtracks or music as well as the campaign progresses. - All the abovementioned elements will be hosted via the Owlbear Virtual Table Top.

Gameplay details

This Exandria campaign aims for a PG-13 content rating. Scenes of violence will be depicted, coarse language may be used by both in game characters and players at the table, and some mature subject matter may be broached. We will be using the safety tools listed above throughout the course of the campaign. If you have any questions or concerns about either the content of the adventure or the safety tools in use, feel free to message or schedule a call with me as soon as possible. Your comfort is the most important thing to me as a DM. If you have any other requests for the game or table, please reach out before the start of the campaign or the next session so I have ample time to address your needs and concerns.

How will character creation work

Player characters will advance from 1st to 13th level by campaign's end. We will have both individual one-on-one meetings and a group session zero before the first official game session. The one-on-one meetings will be for character creation and basic discussions of the game/setting. Use of the "Heroic Chronicle" character creation system from the "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount" will be discussed in this meeting and is highly encouraged. In the group session zero, we will be discussing specific rulesets and world details of the campaign, table etiquette and safety tools. The player characters created prior to the session will be given a brief introduction as well. If time permits, we will then run a brief introductory scenario so all players get a sense of how their characters might play. If you are not comfortable with creating your own character, I have pre-generated characters that you may use for the game instead. I strongly encourage players to adjust their characters according to the party composition between the session zero and the first official game session. Adjustments will be allowed up until the first official session, whereby all character choices will be locked in.
