About the adventure

Set in a world where high fantasy meets the 1930s, step into the role of a monster hunter. You'll be assigned various missions to travel the continent and take down whatever nasty beast has arisen, collect your pay, and more than likely get into some trouble of your own along the way. You'll be working for a newly formed Adventurer's Guild, and as you level up and gain fame, you'll be granted bigger targets. This game is set to play weekly. *This world and the plague storyline that drastically influenced it were written pre-covid. Unfortunately, there were a startling amount of similarities between what was going on in the game world and what happened in the real world. I put this disclaimer here because that was a hard time for everyone, and I want to give a heads up.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need, at the minimum, a microphone, a computer or tablet that can run Roll20, their own dice, and a passive knowledge of the world of Volungandr. Nothing super intense, just a basic sense of the world. They will also need a Roll20 account and a Discord account. If character sheets are physical, I would appreciate a scan or picture of it before we begin. I'd prefer if players had a webcam, as I prefer to see faces, but I plan on streaming this on Twitch, so I understand not everyone will be comfortable with their face being shown. I also recommend some form of note taking medium, such as a sketch book, note book, or other creative medium. I also frequently mail things to players, so a good mailing address is preferred but not required. Again, I understand and respect privacy.

What I provide

I will bring my Roll20, my world, and I often mail things to players. I often make my own maps as well. I do not own any digital rulebooks or online subscriptions to them, so I am unable to share those.

Gameplay details

I will be sending a link to a Google Doc with rules, the world, and all that information. This will be a pretty simple campaign of just hunting monsters and is good for any experience level. We will be using Roll20 for the tabletop and Discord for Video and Voice. While my Twitch is small, I do plan to stream our games to it.

How will character creation work

Characters will be made after Session Zero. They will be starting at Level 3, and I don't mind if you use online or in person character sheets. I expect questions before characters are made, so I don't expect them to be done at the end of Session Zero.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High

  • Roleplay: Medium

  • Puzzles: Medium

  • Experience Level: Open to all
