About the adventure

Greetings! And Welcome to the Death-House! Twisting halls and unnatural events await you here, ready to put the pressure on the small group of new adventurers that have found themselves in this doomed narrative. This game is primarily based on the chapter of the same name from WOTC's Curse of Strahd. I have made a few changes to some of the encounters to better balance it for a stand-alone story, and to allow a little forgiveness for character deaths. That isn't to say this won't be a difficult set of encounters, but rather that deaths will not be the end should they happen. I plan on running this game over the course of three sessions, the first being a Session 0 where we can discuss safety tools and build characters, and the other two actually playing through the module with the newly created characters.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a Discord account, Roll20 account, a working Microphone, and stable internet connection. Webcam is preferred, but ultimately optional; I will be using one, but I will not force anyone to use them. I expect players to have at least a basic understanding of the rules, and a willingness to learn how their own character sheet works. This game is open to all experience levels, and I expect patience from more experienced players when it is needed.

What I provide

I will bring digital maps and hand-outs. I am no professional Voice actor, but I will be giving my all to character voices. Players can use their own physical dice, or use the roll function in Roll 20.

Gameplay details

Players can expect difficult combat encounters, the party will be starting as level 1 adventurers, progressing up to level 3 by the end of the game, and will be facing challenging monsters and encounters. This is something I have accounted for, and will have a built in resurrection mechanic should deaths come to pass. I will provide a few optional pre-built characters for those who would want to use them, but I will be spending some time in session 0 to either help build characters or check over sheets that players want to bring to the table. The module is heavily exploration based, the party having found themselves unwanted guests in a haunted mansion. The main goal will be to survive and eventually find a way to escape the manor house. In terms of Safety Tools, I will send a link to an online document for the players to fill out their requirements, with an option for anonymity should anything want to be kept private, as well as utilising a Session 0 to clarify and explain what the tools we will be using are actually for.
