About the adventure

Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a lich from any direction. -Unknown Adventurer This thrilling custom setting and adventure features: 🕵🏽‍♀️Exploration in a dangerous "weird west" frontier setting 🎭Drama! Manage your place in a tangled web of factions 🐎Collecting debts, chasing bounties, and making a name for your posse ⚔️Terrifying combat against werewolves, undead, and vampires Enjoy a game on the frontier of civilization shortly after a cataclysmic event makes way for re-entry into a desolate yet resource-rich land. Uncover ancient secrets, the motivations of dynamic factions, and keep monsters at bay while you learn why this land is less safe to return to than was advertised back east. "The Dragon's Cup" setting is reminiscent of the American West without colonialism and other problematic themes. Expect a striking and carefully crafted setting that responds to your story. Our adventure is steeped in Fantasy, Horror, and Western genres, but make no mistake, there is no room for a lone wolf in this posse; it will take teamwork to survive. You will have a blast with quality voice acting, premium atmospheric sound, a simple-to-use system friendly to beginners, and a DM who is your biggest fan. Expect a long-form campaign likely to take 60+ sessions with characters advancing from level 1-15 What folks say about playing custom adventures with DM Eric V 🗣️"Eric is a great world builder, he can give you the deep dive experience in a campaign and offers the nitty gritty details that makes a world feel real. He is able to pick up on ques that players throw down and run with improv like a champ. He also provides great combat can will accommodate your most niche desires in a balanced way. Also has great hair." 🗣️"Eric is relaxed, fun, and inclusive, but that masks the hard work that he puts in behind the scenes. He puts a lot of thought into campaigns and making sessions challenging and enjoyable but, more importantly, he really: - allows everyone to have a voice, - creates a safe environment, and - helps players to come together as a group. I've been playing in one of his Spelljammer campaigns for a few months and my appreciation for him and his work has only increased. He is the absolute gold standard when it comes to DMing. " 🗣️"Eric is a terrific DM. He knows how to make his players feel safe and included not just within the party, but within the player group as well. His knowledge of the game, his ability to tell a great story, and his inclusiveness all add up to an amazing experience. I highly recommend sitting at Eric's table." So mosey, grab a pot of stew over to the campfire, and share a tale of adventure with us.

Gameplay details

"Be cool. Have fun." Players at my table can expect an environment that promotes teamwork. Make a character that is both fun to play, and play with. Examples of gameplay not welcome: ❌"It's What My Character Would Do" to excuse bad behavior. ❌"Main Character Syndrome" gameplay that does not share the spotlight ❌"Munchkins" folks that look for rules exploits or a way to sabotage the game Examples of gameplay embraced at the table: ✅Paying attention and coming prepared to play ✅Sharing the spotlight, encouraging everyone to share in the story ✅Respectful of narrative consent and boundaries I strongly encourage roleplay, out-of-the-box thinking, and acting in a manner consistent with what your character would do, but never at the expense of others. There will be plenty of combat in this one and a ton of exploration, but note that my games generally feature a high level of roleplay between party members and NPCs of the world. Roleplay and dramatic storytelling are emphasized. Please note references to the following are common in this adventure: Violence, murder, blood, gore, cannibalism, and body horror. Degenerative mutations that cause physical disfigurement. Rats, spiders, insects, demons, undead, ghosts, and other monsters. Natural disasters, a large-scale loss of life, war, displaced persons, and refugees. Moral ambiguity, social/political manipulation, religious zealotry and military nationalism. Witch and sorcery prosecution in some regions. The campaign does not contain explicit sexuality, sexual assault, racial prejudice, systemic racism, homophobia, or transphobia. Safety system based on the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk. Red "X" cards, Yellow "caution," and Green "keep going" cards can be placed anonymously by players directly in discord. Fround rules and boundaries will be established upfront with a safety and consent survey. Expect a game that follows Rules as Written (RAW) but note I often will go with "the spirit of the rule" to encourage creativity and fun and employ a few quality-of-life house rules. I do encourage new and intermediate players. Zero tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination based on race, cree,d color, gender, sexual orientation, and the like. DM reserves the right to remove a player immediately if violating any ground rules, including problematic gameplay.

How will character creation work

As stated previously - the goal in PC creation is to make a character that is both fun to play and play with. Character creation will occur in session 0. If coming to the table after session 0, I will meet privately to work with you on your character. Random stats, race, and class selection are rewarded with starting magic items but are not required. All Player characters start with class equipment plus a horse and pistol. Generally, the sourcebooks allowed include: Players Handbook, Xanathars Guide, Mordakainen presents..., Tashas Cauldron of Everything, and Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. No Spelljammer, Dragonlance, Magic, or Critical Role content. We can roll stats together - Roll four d6 and drop the lowest or Point Buy. Players will also be able to choose from various pre-generated characters if desired.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
