About the adventure
The Quiet Year presents players with difficult choices that will define a civilization. The choices we make have lasting impacts, causing beautiful relationships to bloom and catastrophic events to threaten that delicate peace. Working together, we will direct a group of survivors in a sort of "narrative God mode" and see how they react to these events and how it shapes the town they live in. The cities and civilizations we'll be creating cities and civilizations are only limited by the players' imaginations. Afterwards, the city's history and map will be made available to the players if they'd like to import it into their own TTRPG games.
Additional Details
How to prepare
A mic is needed to play the game as well as a free account to Roll20. The cards for The Quiet Year are handed out on Roll20 and it has a handy-dandy map drawing feature that makes it ideal for this game. No other preparations are needed besides a sunny disposition since we will be learning to play the game during the session!
What I provide
The cards and map used in The Quiet Year will be distributed and interacted with on Roll20. After the town is built, the narrative will be polished and then included in a homebrew world that players will have access to or as a word document.
Gameplay details
Session 0 will be used to meet new players and build a level of rapport before diving into the game. It can be a session unto itself or a quick warm-up before getting into the game. Besides meeting other players, we can discuss Lines and Veils that players feel are appropriate, what sort of game we'd like to play, and timing of breaks that long play sessions demand. The list of content warnings is not exhaustive. Since this is a collaborative storytelling game, many things may come up that may be uncomfortable for some players. The boundaries we establish before the game starts will help limit those and if any other issues come up we will use breaks and X/N/O cards to make sure everyone enjoys the game.
