About the adventure

Gain favor within your faction Tear down your enemies Explore the weird and wondrous city of sigil Avert the next faction war... or ensure you finish it on the top. Play a group unified by ambition as they navigate a complicated web of faction relationships in Sigil, the wildly inventive city at the core of the Planescape setting. This is a player-driven sandbox campaign. You'll start as a cell devoted to one of the major factions that vie for control of the city. Will you stay loyal, or will you bend the faction to your own whims? This roleplay and cinematic combat-focused custom 5e campaign uses a robust faction system drawn from award-winning RPG Blades in the Dark to generate exciting plots, beloved allies, and unforgettable rivals. About Sigil: A massive city built into a floating torus floating above the center of the multiverse, Sigil is the City of Doors. The doors lead to countless worlds, planes, and more. But any enclosed space can be a door - an archway, the opening of a bucket, etc. Sigil is a melting pot with people from every known world and some unknown. The campaign is set hundreds of years after the Faction War that nearly led to Sigil's destruction. A new set of factions have risen to join the survivors of the last civil war. But tensions are rising again, and the people of Sigil fear that history will repeat itself...

How to prepare

You will need a microphone that you can connect to your computer and use on a Zoom call. You'll need a free Roll20 account (https://app.roll20.net/create-account) and an internet connection strong enough to be on Zoom and use Roll20 at the same time (again, just a free Zoom account at https://zoom.us/signup#/signup). A webcam is encouraged but not required.

What I provide

D&D5e rules, Planescape setting books, a custom faction system, a paid Zoom account, intricate faction relationships, and memorable NPCs -- all oriented toward enriching the group's story.

Gameplay details

Session zero will cover safety tools, walk through character creation as needed. We'll establish character bonds, the group's relationships to one another, to their faction, and to other groups. The content warnings listed encompass a range of what *could* but will not necessarily show up. Our Lines & Veils will be a living list and we have tools for in-the-moment check-ins.

How will character creation work

We'll review characters during session zero, as well as safety tools, along with a discussion of tone and what everyone wants from the game and their time together across the campaign . Characters begin at level 3. Use the character creation rules from Tasha's - assign your ability modifier bonuses wherever you like (+2 to one stat, +1 to another, or +1 to three different stats). All characters begin with a feat at 1st level (variant humans therefore get 2 at first level) and feats are available as an option in the place of level-based ability increases. Use the standard array for stats (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). You'll have starting gear per your class/background plus some more to represent your past adventures (I am not picky about gear and there will be loot). Please stick to class/subclass choices from: Players' Handbook, Monster Manual, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Eberron: Rising from the Last War, and the Astral Adventurer's Guide. All races from WotC books are allowed, save aarakocra.
