About the adventure

"The patient exhibited noted aggression and claimed to be a great wizard. The patient refused to allow us to measure her head, or participate in any of the modern medical examinations, placing ultimate trust in her also delusion companion, who claimed to be a 'clerk of the God Pharasma.' This is the story the woman told me... 'It seems a lifetime ago, and several worlds ago - but it all started when we woke, without any memory, in the riots at the Briarstone Asylum. Luckily, we escaped and explored this strange world of Golarian, but that was not the end. No, it continues - we seek out this dread God that has ruined many lives. I will either die or destroy this God, or I will go mad.'" - Journal of unknown origin, found in Paris 1937. Join us in the Dungeons and Dragons 5E adaption of Strange Aeons, an eldritch horror adventure, initially written for Pathfinder.

How to prepare

For hardware, players need a computer, a microphone (that can be muted), and speakers. Players should create characters, read the player’s guide, and enjoy some thematic literature, film, or music. From a software standpoint, players should have access to discord, a Roll20, and an account on DNDBeyond (https://www.dndbeyond.com). Players should prepare a short backstory; included in the backstory should be a hook, or a few, that you want me to use in the game. I do not alter backstories or make character backstories unreliable narrations, so be sure and tell me what you want me to use and how. But remember, the characters will not remember any of this backstory.

What I provide

First and foremost, I will bring the original Pathfinder module handcrafted into a Dungeons and Dragons adventure. 🗺 I bring custom tokens from Heroforge and lovingly crafted custom maps. 🛠 Easy homebrew crafting rules and downtime rules. 👥I also bring colorful NPCs and a love of roleplaying.

Gameplay details

This game will have an eldritch horror theme to it. Expect enemies from Cthulhu Mythos horror stories and television like Lovecraft Country. Chapter One will be a level 1-4 adventure, and is the first of six chapters. In Session 0, we will discuss all of the CW I have checked, and you will be asked to complete a survey about your personal lines and veils.

How will character creation work

I will have some pre-gens available for those who are new to the game, but I strongly recommend making a character before the session. All characters will begin the game with amnesia, and there will be special campaign feats for the characters to take at the start (for free). You will be allowed to create characters using the following books: Players Handbook Xanathar's Guide to Everything Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Monsters of the Multiverse Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft A player's guide will be available. Character creation basics: ✏Use 27-point buy to create a first-level character; this allows for the “standard array.” ✏Use the starting equipment provided by your class. ✏Customize your background. Do not use standard backgrounds (two skills and two languages or tools, 25gp and no background ability; the campaign will have custom abilities that come with a feat) ✏Level up to appropriate level; use average hp per level (no rolling for hp). ❗Feats are okay! ❗Multiclasses are okay! Each game will have a set of books that are allowed; these are the WoTC hardcovers specified above. A few homebrew options will be established at the beginning (background abilities), but no third-party books will be used.
