Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus
Dungeons & Dragons 5e on Foundry VTT
About the adventure
Sing me a song of the holy city of Elturel. The once great city of Elturel has suddenly disappeared from the sword coast, and you find yourself sealed inside of Baldur’s Gate as refugees from the neighboring land of Elturgard attempt to flood in. The grand Duke of Baldur’s Gate is missing and this has led many to wonder if his disappearance is linked to the fall of Elturel, and if Baldur’s Gate will suffer the same fate. We begin our journey as you are conscripted into the flaming fist, an army of mercenaries protecting Baldur’s Gate. Your orders are to help maintain peace by rooting out and destroying followers of Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul the evil gods collectively known as the dead three. Will you be able to stem the bleeding caused by these cultists and prevent Baldur’s Gate from suffering a similar fate to Elturel? Join me on this adventure that many affectionately describe as Mad Max in hell. You can expect the game to be fully flushed out, everywhere you go there will be a map to show you where you are and what your surroundings look like accompanied by a narrative explaining a little more in depth. Every NPC will be fully voiced with a different distinguished voice. You will also have access to every book on DND beyond. The program Syrinscape will allow me to set the mood with background music and sound effects to amplify immersion. A great level of care and hard work goes into making every session as immersive and fun as possible. Feel free to message me and ask any questions you would like about the campaign if you are interested in joining. Finally, don't forget to love each other!
How to prepare
They will need a D&D Beyond account, Syrinscape account, and a Discord Account.
What I provide
I bring to the table the complete collection on D&D Beyond which gives the players in my campaigns access to all of that content. Foundry VTT a powerful software with dynamic lighting and special effects capabilities.
Typical session will be everyone logging into D&D Beyond, then joining discord, and joining the Foundry VTT link. After everyone is situated and ready to go then we will jump right into the game. Exploring and role playing will be large portions of the game as well as combat. This is a game for people who like gritty realism combined with high fantasy, an accurate comparison would be the Witcher series. I like to play my games with a healthy mix of role play and combat. There is also a healthy mix of serious and silly content. I pride myself on my voice acting skills and constantly receive compliments on them. What I can’t do with my voice I supplement with voice mods. Character death is a serious possibility especially in early levels. This is because I do not ascribe to the idea that every encounter should be level specific. I feel the world seems much more alive and realistic when you are bumping into things that are both easy to take care of and nearly impossible to manage. Knowing when to run is one of the greatest skills an adventurer must possess. I want to get your adrenaline pumping in dangerous situations and make it feel as real as possible. I require everyone to be on time and ready for session and expect them to stay for the entirety unless an emergency arises. I expect people to stay in character as much as possible and do not tolerate metagaming. I run a mature game and any topic may come up at the table in game, if there is any specific lines you would like to avoid crossing please feel free to message me and I will make a note of it. You can expect to have a 5 to 10 minute break around mid session for grabbing snacks, drinks and bio breaks.
