About the adventure

This two-session mini adventure will be set in a slightly modernized version of the Underdark that has become one part of a broader elf-dominated nation. While the history of the city is steeped in forgotten-realms-esque drow culture, in the current era of the one-shot the community there has become much more diverse. There's a group of wood elves that were among the first to move in, and they created their community among tree roots near the pathway to the surface. A mixed group of eladrin, wood elves, and drow (and elves of mixed lineage!) tend to a glowing mushroom forest underground. Lolth worship has long died out, and most drow find that part of their history to be painful to think about. Modern drow have a very individualistic approach to choosing their religions, if they feel compelled to have one at all. Your PC does not have to be a drow or even an elf, and they'll fit in just fine. ------- The starting scenario: you've been hired by a drow merchant woman named Unosse Re'srut to be one of her protectors. She hails from a small town in the Underdark and needs to bring a cart full of expensive merchandise from her home to the big subterranian city of Gaelthemar. She seems to be on a deadline, saying the customer she's working with is impatient. As the adventure begins, you've already been on the road for a day and you've run into obstacles along the road that have been slowing you down. Unosse is starting to fret, and is urging you to get to the city as quickly as possible.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Mic required, webcam optional. We'll be playing using foundry, very similar to Dee's regular Friday campaign. I think all of the players in this game have general familiarity with 5e, but if someone needs help please don't be afraid to ask.

What I provide

Cool maps, all the regular Foundry functionality, background music via Pancake, and two co-DMs who'll voice the NPCs!

Gameplay details

- Since we're basing our drow loosely on their forgotten realms counterparts (and pushing forward in time to a modernized drow society), slavery is part of the Lolthian history of the setting. Modern drow find that part of their history sobering and shameful. There will be no characters living enslaved lives on-screen, and chattel slavery isn't a thing anymore in-universe. PCs won't be escaped slaves. Still figured it was worth mentioning! - Spiders may appear in-game. They won't be overly described and will be represented with cartoonish tokens. - We'll go over a lines and veils doc before the game begins. If something comes up that is making you uncomfortable, feel free to use the phrase "I need a snack break". That will signal that we should take a few minutes so that you can decompress and we can figure out how to proceed from there.
