About the adventure
Thedas stands on the edge. The breach has closed, yet the world does not feel safer. Darkspawn attacks are on the rise, bandits and rogue mages roam across the land, and whispers come from the north of a new force rising in Tevinter. Against all this only a few stand, you should not be one of them, but destiny finds its heroes in the strangest of places. You awaken in a strange laboratory, memories of your time there fractured and hazy, yet now you possess new gifts and perhaps you will be able to save the world of Thedas before it all comes crashing down. In this campaign you will be playing as one of several individuals taken for experimentation by a mysterious being. These experiments will grant you many of the gifts of the Grey Wardens as well as some others that will become clear with time, but who or what is your benefactor, why did they choose you for this and what was their purpose? These questions will be answered as we play. This campaign is set following the conclusion of Dragon Age Inquisition and is intended to serve as an alternative story for the fourth entry in the series. It will draw inspiration from some of the established lore of Veilgaurd but will go in a very different direction. An element that is very important to me is that we will decide as a group on the ‘World State’ of Thedas, I want the actions that we all took in the previous games to feel like they matter and I will work to ensure that happens. My goal is to keep the dark fantasy tone of the Dragon Age series, leaning on lore elements that have been around as early as Origins. This does not mean there cannot be light hearted elements of course, I seek to match the vibes of that original game, where serious politics can share a world with a golem that had to be filed down to fit through doorways. We will be using the official Dragon Age Roleplay rules which is a relatively new player friendly system, that gains in complexity as characters level up. If you have never played a TTRPG before I want this table to be as new player friendly as possible as well as being a safe space for any members of the LGTBQ+ community.

About me
I have been running TTRPG's for around 15 years. I began with Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, but have run a variety of systems including, but not limited to, Fabula Ultima, Star Trek Adventures, Age of Sigmar Soulbound, Pugmire, Mass Effect 5e and Polymorph. I have recently focused my GMing on running games at Conventions but I have also run home games for longer campaigns. Several years ago my friends and I produced an Actual Play series on Youtube with myself as the GM, although I admit the audio and Video quality was somewhat lacking. My GM style is to focus on a strong narrative and role play elements, my favorite moments both as a player and a GM are always those deep emotional roleplay moments where we are able to dig into a character and really see what makes them tick.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
We will use the character creation rules found in the core rule book, creating characters at level 1. This will be done either during the session 0 or between session 0 and session 1. Should players wish it I am very happy to meet individually with them prior to the first session to help them build their characters. I do not expect players to own the rule book themselves and will share the relevant parts as required.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing this Game over Discord and primarily using Theatre of the Mind techniques. You will not need anything else, though if you wish to transcribe your character sheets to paper I can send you a copy of the PDF versions. Having some six sided dice will be extremely helpful, but if you prefer a digital dice roller (such as the one available in the discord server) that is also entirely acceptable. The use of cameras over Discord will be up to the players, and will be a matter we discuss as part of our Session 0.
What Richard Parrington brings to the table
I am somewhat experienced as an amateur voice actor and strive to give each NPC their own unique energy. I am not a master of accents however, so a lot of the NPC's will be suspiciously British.
Homebrew rules
I plan to include additional character abilities granted due to the previously mentioned set up for the adventure, which will manifest in unique and interesting ways for each character.

How Richard Parrington creates a safe table
As part of the onboarding process I will be sending a link to a google form where you will have the opportunity to list lines, veils and any elements that are not hard no's but that you just would rather avoid. This document will also include the opportunity to request things you would like to see Included. X cards may be sent to me in anyway you prefer, this may be spoken, sent in a private message or posted in the general chat. Should any aftercare be required or you need to talk about the game I will be very happy to do so.
