About the adventure
Tether is a two-player, journaling-style horror role-playing game. We will each play a character, separated by decades but inextricably linked by fate. The Tether, a mysterious journal, lets us communicate across the boundaries of time. Will we uncover the dark ties that bind us together before it's too late? Tether is a play-by-post game where we take turns writing journal entries. We will each play a character living in the same area, but in two distinct time periods. Sixteen narrative prompts will help shape the ever-changing narrative between the characters. Each prompt is chosen at random from a modified deck of cards. A prompt may inspire a single journal entry, or it may flourish into a back-and-forth thread of tension and terror. I encourage one entry per day, but we will find a pace that works for both of us. This is a collaborative narrative experience. I will host a free session zero to establish the setting, make our characters, and draw up lines and veils. This game is for fans of slow-burn horror, collaborative storytelling, and emotional, character-driven narratives. Circumstances brought us together. We are not the first to write in the journal, but with each other's help, we might be the last. Can we uncover the clues needed to break the cycle of fate holding us captive and finally free the world from The Darkness?

About me
I was introduced to TTRPGs by playing 2nd and 3rd edition D&D with friends in college. I was hooked immediately and sought every opportunity to play from then on. I started running my own games a few years later when finding a DM became difficult. I figured running a game was better than not having a game. As is often the case, scheduling a group to meet regularly was a challenge. This led me to explore different systems of Lite-RPGs and favor one-shots or short campaigns that required less time commitment from my players and made my games more approachable to new players, introducing them to the concepts of tabletop games and the world of role-play. The most recent chapter of my quest has me exploring the dungeons of game design. I am trying to craft systems that make role-play even more approachable and reduce the chasm between player and GM by giving the players a bigger role in crafting the world they play in.

How David Does Games creates a safe table
I will schedule a free session zero where we will establish the setting, make characters, and draw lines and veils. Lines and veils will be kept in a shared Google Doc and may be viewed or modified at any time. If you wish to use an X card, please send me a private message on Discord (please don't send X cards in the play thread so immersion isn't broken). I will check in with you and edit the post to ensure your comfort.
