About the adventure

It was supposed to be an easy job: deliver supplies to a remote mining colony, load up the refined rare earth metal promethium produced there, and bring the valuable cargo back to Earth in time for the ship to be decommissioned and stripped for parts. How did it all go so wrong...? You play the ragtag, skeleton crew of the USCSS Fidanza, a rusty old starfreighter making one last cargo run before decommissioning. Upon arrival to Jeremiah VI, however, it quickly becomes apparent that something has gone horribly wrong at the colony. Why are the colonists at odds with each other? What is lurking in the shadows? And what else did the miners uncover in the mines? Rapture Protocol is a cinematic scenario for 3-5 players, each playing a pre-generated character with their own secret personal agenda. Survival is by no means guaranteed in the Alien RPG system, but the goal is to create a memorable sci-fi horror experience... and what’s sci-fi horror without a little blood, violence and death?

About me

Hi, fellow gamers! My name's Nathaniel, and I love playing TTRPGs. I'm a forever GM by choice because I love to set the scene and see what my players do. I got started with early edition Dungeons & Dragons way back in the late 80's, and I've run over a dozen 5th Edition campaigns since 2018. I also run numerous one-shots at conventions such as PAX Unplugged and Dreamation every year, and I've recently expanded to several new game systems such as Fallout, Aliens, and Mothership. Did I mention I love playing TTRPGs?

Character creation

Creating your character

Before the first session, you’ll select from five pre-generated characters designed specifically for this scenario, each with their own secret personal agendas which I’ll share privately with you ahead of the game. 🫡 Benjamin York: Executive Officer — You never asked to captain the Fidanza, but here you are, trying to get this mission done cleanly and get yourself back to Earth where a quiet desk job is waiting. Maybe you’ll figure out whether you're really cut out for command along the way. 🚀 Isla Witt: Navigation Officer — All you’ve ever wanted is to fly among the stars, and you’re good at it – great, even – no matter what distractions or doubts try to creep their way in. You know what you need to do, though. Just keep your focus, and you’ll get yourself and your crew home. 🔬 Martina Martinez: Science Officer — You’re chasing the discovery that will finally make your career, but right now you just need this ship to get you back to Earth so you can seize the next opportunity. You know exactly what you’re capable of when the moment arrives. 🩺 Eve Weiss: Medical Officer — You’re a friendly and understanding person who is well-liked. You try to be a reliable source of kindness in a galaxy that doesn’t offer much of it, and if there’s a way to bring a little light into the darkness, you’ll find it. 🛠️ Dominic Jeffers: Engineer — You’re the best at your job, and you know it. It’s not arrogance if you can back it up, after all. The sudden reassignment to the Fidanza left you a little less prepared than you would have liked, but you’ll keep the ship running... and maybe find a way to take the edge off while you’re at it.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You’ll of course need a computer with a stable internet connection as well as a working microphone (standalone/headset/internal). We’ll be using the following: ✦ Discord for communication (voice/video/chat) ✦ Demiplane for character sheets ✦ Roll20 for the virtual tabletop

What Nathaniel Lee brings to the table

😱 My goal is to provide you with a memorable sci-fi horror story with high stakes and rising tension, impacted by the decisions you make. 🧩 We’ll use digital maps and tokens in Roll20 as visual aids during gameplay. 🏫 I’ll provide guidance on the game’s rules and mechanics as they come up during play. No prior Alien RPG or Alien RPG Evolved Edition experience is necessary. 📚 If you’re interested in learning more about the rules on your own, I’ll share access to the Alien RPG Evolved Edition book on Demiplane while you’re playing in the campaign.

Safety

How Nathaniel Lee creates a safe table

TTRPGs are all about having fun together while telling an awesome story, so it’s important that everyone at the table feels safe throughout the game, especially in a sci-fi horror setting like this one. Thus, we’ll have a safety deck available in the Roll20 VTT to indicate when we need to pause or slow down. Let's make sure that everyone at the table has a good time!
