About the adventure

ENTER THE ARENA is an arena fighting survival, combat focused campaign. The theme is an arcane studio run planar-network broadcasting volunteer challengers entering arena fights to a wider populace throughout the universes, meaning any character can originate from any fantasy setting such as Forgotten Realms, Ebberon, Dragonlance, Tal'dorei, so on and so forth. Winners of the final challenges in the Arena's head home with a vast amount of treasure and fame, but the risk of death is very much a deterring factor for many. Challengers rest in the Pits while Scrilming (Scrying-Filming) occurs over the 40 day bout of fights. The campaign will run on a milestone system of levelling with each two fights ending in the next level up for the characters. 1st Fight of Level: Welcome to Level X 2nd Fight of Level: Survive Level X The second fight may prove a little more challenging as a true test of your capabilities at this new level. Each fight will end with a long rest in the pits. Each Arena has a map with various themes and potential surprises, helpful or deadly, to be found during rounds of fights. Many various types of creatures will be fought by the characters and is a reason to utilise obscure stat blocks from official sources as well as some of the iconics! There could also be a chance of fighting an opposing group of classed NPC's, with their own magic items they have purchased in their own climbing of the ranks! The Pits will be mapped for players and will have many different areas that will be given a tour to challengers by the Pits caretaker when arriving and having signed waivers. The pits will be dealt with in session for any purchasing, selling, RP interactions between PC's (Fighting together, might as well try to bond. Build morale for your fights!), and other things that will help you immerse yourself for your built character into this game before getting ready for the fighting! Characters will earn gold for each fight to be spent upon items, potions, scrolls, etc to be utilised in the next bout of fights in the arenas; These items can be purchased in the Pits personally chosen by players from offical sources for ease of character builds.

About me

Hello, fellow adventurer! I'll give you a little bit about me but I'll mainly talk about my passion and experience and a little of my background that jettisoned me into this beautiful game that I just cannot get enough of! I have been playing TTRPG's, mainly D&D 5e, for just over a decades worth of years now with most of those being in the DM's role. Before I started playing, I was very keen and into my drama studies and always enjoyed being on stage playing a different character and voice that was not myself or my own. I believe that this experience has helped me with the confidence to become the DM and the voice acting has certainly bled into my performance as a Dungeon Master throughout the years. It was then LARPing that truly got me on the path of D&D and further and further I delved into this fantastic hobby. I have a serious passion for D&D and the joy that it can bring to not just me but to my players also. I never look at a campaign being mine despite making it, but rather ours as we all have a large part in creating the characters, stories, memories within the world that I run.

Character creation

Creating your character

This campaign will use the Standard Array for ease of auditing and building character sheets. The Standard Array is: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 The Discord will include guidelines and sources allowed for character creation and the DM will be involved in aiding the build ready for play. Starting level will be the same as the group, or Level 1 at beginning of campaign. Building characters will be done as a group or seperately when you have time before your first session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: Discord Roll20 Microphone Keen attitude to play D&D!

What Trip's Gaming Table brings to the table

A vast knowledge of the 2014 D&D ruleset. A vocal trained voice actor to immerse voices for any NPC's or creatures. Coloured maps of different styles. Background Music and other sound effects themed to the campaign. Freedom of character creation and lore introductions into the world and willingness from the DM to aid in all aspects of the game. This is not only a job to me, but a burning passion for a life-long hobby. I place great care and detail into my games and this combat arena game is specifically of my own thoughts and ideas to bury myself into this fantastic game.

Safety

How Trip's Gaming Table creates a safe table

Upon welcoming Players to the discord server, an icebreaker chat is held as soon as DM and Player can arrange. This will be to meet each other voice to voice, ask any questions each may have, DM give idea on timeframe before 1st session, and anything else in general. I then perform private session 0's for my players once character sheets are thought to be done and I have audited the sheet and ensure no loss/gain of something unintended, creating a fair space for all players. This session 0 goes over, in order: General Rules and Ettiquette for the Table Red Lines and Limits I have for the campaign, and then I missed that you may need to mention, for a safe and comfortable space for all players. Things about my DM style. Things about the Roll20. Things about the campaign. Character Backstory and reasonings. When this is done for all Players, the 1st session can begin! We will have a 10, potentially longer if anyone calls for it, minute break around the halfway point of session. My virtual door is always open for players to reach out privately with any concerns and I occassionally reach out to each player for a check-in. My tables do not tolerate any discrimination or bigotry of any kind and I understand my role as arbiter of the games I run. I love my job/passion, but will deal swiftly with any serious shenanigans. other than that, we're all here to have fun and I certainly intend on facilitating that to the maximum!
