About the adventure
You and your allies must travel through the snowy peaks, arid desert, sweltering rainforest, beneath the waves, and into the heart of a volcano itself to find the five Key Seal Fortresses and renew the magic of the seals before the followers of the Fell Dragon destroy them! This classic, heroic D&D 5e 2024 campaign is created with beginning level players in mind who may have already played a tutorial game, or some oneshots, but aren't quite ready to commit to a long 50+ session campaign. If you are a first-time player, you are also welcome! This campaign is short because it has very straight-forward, urgent "main quest" goals. As players you'll be free to: + Choose which fortress to travel to next + Interact with NPCs and their side quests along the way + Become cursed from monster bites or using cursed items + Die in battle and create a new character for the remaining sessions + Split the party + Do something completely unexpected and take the story into improv mode, yet retain the goal of stopping the dragon's return We won't have time for anti-quest choices like deciding not to go to the fortresses after all. Join now to secure your spot at the table! Or if you have any questions or concerns, send me a message via my GM profile page. Looking forward to playing with you! About me
Hi there! I’m Betsy :) This is my sixth year as a D&D 5e GM. I love running relaxed games with a heroic action/adventure tone that leaves room for comedy and character growth. (My games probably aren't for you if you're looking for traditional mega-dungeons or grimdark genres.) Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mummy, and Inuyasha are guiding inspirations for me: straight forward plots full of thrills and laughs. My goal is for everyone to leave the table with fond memories of our adventures together and have excitement for the next one. :)

Creating your character
Who Are You in This Story? You are one member of this group of adventurers who will face the dangers ahead to renew the Key Seals. You could be a veteran knight being pulled out of retirement for this important quest. You could be a criminal on the wrong side of the law doing this to pay off your debt to society and regain your freedom. Perhaps a knowledgeable spellcaster living in luxury in the palace with valuable expertise on the Key Seals needed for this quest. No matter your species, background, or skill set, the lands of Onira is in some way or another your home. And of course, you are all allies and companions who trust each other. As we create characters in Session 0, we'll discuss with the other players: What does each character like most about every other member of this adventuring party? Quick Reference: - Most published sources are welcome for character building. Not using Strixhaven, Spelljammer, or Unearthed Arcana in thie game. - Premade characters are also available. - Point Buy for Ability scores
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before we play, please prepare: • A discord account • A suitable microphone for voice chat—it's hard to play if no one can hear you well • A Roll20 account **Please note: players in the past have found Roll20 difficult to use with a laptop trackpad as there are some things that require 'click and drag' which is easier to do with a physical mouse.** (Optional) • A webcamera • A physical set of polyhedral dice to roll instead of using virtual dice—Yes, at this table we roll dice without a camera!Å
What Betsy brings to the table
I provide maps for exploration and combat on Roll20. I use performative and exaggerated voices for NPCs and will be using a webcamera, but you don't have to. Some quick recaps from my profile's GM style section: • I describe new scenes with enough details to be immersive, but I keep it brief so that players have more time to play! • I openly state the consequences of a low result *before* a risky roll is made.
