About the adventure
An urban explorer has disappeared after entering the abandoned Laraine Estate, a place surrounded by rumors, tragedy, and stories that sensible people have learned not to investigate. Now you have a reason to go inside. What begins as a search through a decaying old house will lead you deeper into its history—and toward things that were never meant to be uncovered. The Laraine Estate is a dark horror scenario for KULT: Divinity Lost, built around exploration, investigation, disturbing discoveries, and character-driven roleplay. Expect the atmosphere of an abandoned-house horror movie mixed with KULT’s particular brand of psychological and supernatural horror: reality is fragile, human beings carry terrible secrets, and sometimes the worst thing you can discover is that the nightmare makes sense. My games emphasize roleplay, atmosphere, meaningful choices, and letting the horror build before everything comes apart. You do not need previous experience with KULT to play. This is planned as a Monday one- to two-session adventure, making it a great choice for players who want a complete horror story without committing to a long campaign. KULT is an adult horror game and can explore intense or disturbing subject matter. We’ll establish boundaries before play and use safety tools so that we can go somewhere dark while making sure everyone at the table is comfortable with where the story goes.

What Jonathan Milton brings to the table
I provide **ambient music, sound effects, visual handouts, and Roll20 maps when they are useful to the scene**. KULT is a highly narrative game, so I focus less on tactical combat and more on atmosphere, character choices, tension, and the consequences of what you decide to do. My GM style is immersive and character-driven. I embrace dramatic choices and the Rule of Cool when it serves the story, but actions still matter—especially in horror. Bad decisions, risky choices, and uncomfortable truths can all have lasting consequences, and I like letting those consequences shape the narrative rather than forcing the story down a predetermined path.

Safety
How Jonathan Milton creates a safe table
Because KULT deals with mature and potentially disturbing horror themes, I use a Horror Contract before play so everyone understands the tone of the game and has a chance to establish personal boundaries. During play, I use Monte Cook Games’ Red, Yellow, Green safety system. Green means everyone is comfortable continuing, Yellow means the intensity should be reduced or the scene redirected, and Red means we stop immediately and move away from the content. Players can use these tools at any time, without needing to explain or justify their decision. The goal is to create a game that can be intense, frightening, and emotionally engaging while still making sure everyone at the table feels respected and in control of their own boundaries.
