About the adventure

You've made your way to the storied halls of the Candlekeep Library, stacked deep with tomes and steeped in generations of wisdom along the Sword Coast. Speak with the Avowed, the assistants and stewards of the library. Explore the halls filled with densely with books and scrolls. Visit The Hearth and The House of Rest, the tavern and inn, to restore your body and mind after study. But even within the walls of the Candlekeep, where violence is strictly prohibited, danger remains only a page turn away. Investigate the origins of a long forgotten curse upon a missing Avowed. You'll gain perspectives from a cloistered kenku, a precocious child artist, a studious researcher, and more. Could there be an opus or opinion to help you get to the bottom of it? Or does a Fireball spell solve everything, every time? That's up to you to decide. This game for Level 4 characters is a great one-shot for beginners or those hoping to dust off the cobwebs after time away from the table. You'll fit right in if you build a character who has motivation for *why* they're drawn to the Candlekeep library. Bonus: play a one-shot to determine if a campaign with DM Danielle is the right fit for you!

About me

TTRPGs changed my life for the better, and it's an honor to share a table with you! As a "forever GM" of systems like Powered by the Apocalypse, Into the Odd, and 5(.5) D&D, I firmly believe games help us communicate better, live more fully, and generate joy and community. My play style is flexible and highly improvisational, focusing on character motivations and narrative arcs that help us examine ourselves and feel braver (at the table and in the real world). Come play at my table if you're... 🐣 a beginner who doesn't know how to get started but has a twinkle in their eye 🏆 a well-seasoned player who approaches each session with curiosity and humility as well as confidence and vulnerability 👀 a parent who wants to learn more about what their kids are playing 🪄 a Dimension 20, Critical Role, Adventure Zone etc fan who is ready to put their extensive knowledge to the test

Character creation

Creating your character

Please come with a Level 4 D&D 5e player character (using 2014 or 2024 ruleset, your preference). Please use standard array for ability scores. I recommend but do not require character building in D&D Beyond. Please do not use more than *one* supplemental book in addition to the Player's Handbook. For example, you can use Tasha's Cauldron of Anything + PHB, but *not* Tasha's + PHB + Xanathar's Guide. I do not recommend using the following supplemental materials to build your character: Obojima, Spelljammer, or anything from existing homebrewed campaigns.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

No preparation needed, except for a web browser ready to use Google Meet. Any combat will be run as "theater of the mind," which means no additional map tools needed. We're keeping this low-key to focus on roleplaying and adventure.
