About the adventure
Hello Crawlers! Welcome to the World Dungeon. Your home world has been flattened to make a reality show for trillions across the galaxy. So, be proud. You're death will be televised. The Borant Corporation has high hopes that you'll survive the dungeon long enough that we can sell some merch! You'll be given all the tools to survive and then you're own your own. I mean, you can't expect us to invest too much into you at this stage, can you? If you make it past the first few levels, you might even get some decent loot out of it. So, pull yourself together and show some backbone... or one of the mobs will show it for you. And remember, as always: KILL! KILL! KILL! WHAT TO EXPECT: I’ve been running tabletop RPGs for decades, and in this campaign, together, we're building a long-form DCC campaign where the players actually drive what happens. This isn't Carl or Donut's story, IT IS YOURS! You’ll be creating your own crawlers and making your own decisions. The campaign will use the DCC universe, its rules, its insanity, and its escalating dungeon, but the story will develop around what your party actually does. Help a faction? They may become allies. Betray them? They may come looking for you. Ignore a problem? It might still be there several floors later. Kill someone important? That can change what happens next. I prepare the world. You decide what happens to it. This campaign is designed to continue floor by floor, potentially all the way to the end of the Dungeon. • The official Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG • A long-running campaign with persistent consequences • Tactical combat, exploration, roleplaying, ridiculous loot, and terrible decisions • Original characters and stories alongside the wider DCC world • A dungeon that reacts to what the players actually do • Recurring NPCs, factions, allies, and enemies • Choices that can come back to help you… or kill you • Dark humor, brutal consequences, and the occasional deeply stupid plan • A campaign that evolves as we play I've been studying the rulebook for some time and I'm even making videos for youtube teaching others how to play the game. So you'll be in good hands with me as your GM. PS. That's a picture of my actual cat, Boba, and how she would look in the Dungeon... I imagine 😉

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi. I’m David aka Evil Penguin. When I was 11 years old, an older neighbor kid told me how cool this book he was reading was called Lord of the Rings. So, I read it myself. At that age, this was the first adult novel I had ever read. By the time I finished the series, I knew that all I wanted to do in life was tell stories half as good as that story. That same neighbor kid and I started playing D&D together and I’ve not looked back since. I went on to study creative writing in college before eventually ending up working professionally in the film industry (that’s my day job). So, a lot of what I bring to the table comes from years of thinking about storytelling, pacing, character moments, when to build and release tension, and creating memorable experiences for an audience. As a GM, my focus is simple: I want everyone to have fun and feel like they were an active part of an incredible story. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let me know. Try out a session. Players of all experience levels are welcome at my table. I run an inclusive, LGBTQ+ friendly table where respect for everyone is mandatory. It’s good to know that apparently I’m doing something right because most of my players end up coming back for future campaigns and I’ve had many IRL tables that have run for years with the same players. And if you’d like to get a better sense of my GMing style, worldbuilding, and approach to tabletop RPGs, you can also check out my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@EvilPenguinRPG

Creating your character
You'll be given access to all the rules you need to get your first character up and running (I strongly suggest you also make a back up character). You'll create your character on roll20 and we'll play the game via discord voice channel.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Once you join I will get you access to the Rulebook at session 0 for you to read through if you want, It is best to read through and come to session with questions of things you dont understand and I can take each session slow and explain as we play so you can learn as you go and stop and ask questions if needed. We will be using discord for Voice chat so please have a free account ready for that. We'll be running the game through roll20, which is free.
What EvilPenguin brings to the table
A fun and creative story and safe space. Safety is too priority of mine. Im a rule of cool GM. I create immersive, living worlds. Expect detailed maps, distinct character voices, evocative visuals, ambient touches, and dynamic NPCs that make the city breathe around you. I want you to feel like you’ve stepped into the story. At my table, safety and belonging come first. I am fiercely protective of every member of my community, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, femme-presenting, ESL, and disabled players. This is a space where respect is non-negotiable, boundaries are honored, and everyone deserves to feel safe being themselves.
Homebrew rules
Homebrew is built into the very fabric of the game. You'll be allowed to come up with custom races and classes. Figure out what skills you have. It's a very collaborative process.
