About the adventure

You are a band of sea faring adventurers contracted to a mysterious benefactor known simply as The Teasmith to travel uncharted waters bringing back rare and mystical ingredients for his tea shop. It pays well enough and the risk is fairly low. But on your most recent adventure, you've become afflicted by a fey curse best remedied in its infancy. Sail the high seas, and stop for the occasional brew, in this cozy coded adventure. If you've never played before and are looking to learn this is ideal oneshot for you to experience a taste of everything! The best way to play is by playing. After a brief introduction to the world you'll get to expect to experience a rich and vibrant tropical setting mixing roleplay, puzzle solving, and a touch of combat. I will walk you through every roll of the game and explain everything within its proper context. All you need to bring is a desire to learn. Pre-made characters will be available for new players because creating a character can be cumbersome, but if you have experience you can also build your own character from scratch. The adventure will be built for a third level character!

About me

⚔️ Hello Daring Adventurers! ⚔️ I am a skilled Game Master, having run over a dozen campaigns for the last decade across systems including: 🐉D&D 5e🐉 🗡️Daggerheart🗡️ 🛠️Everyday Heroes🛠️ 🐙Call of Cthullu🐙 🚲Kids on Bikes🚲 🧛‍♀️Vampire the Masquerade 🧛‍♂️ and more! The easiest way to get a glance into my storytelling style is with a peak into some of my previous campaigns: -Cowboys vs Illithids: Our outrageous outlaws set out to foil Doucanon Dimmadome's capitalistic ventures involving strange alien technologies across the Wild West. -The Whole Grain Gang: The Whole Grain Gang ventured through an Ancient Greek Adventure to decide the custody battle between Demeter and Hades for custody of Persephone's daughter. -It's a Small World: Our tiny troupe adventured through a nature-core post-apocalypse adventure of how found family can band together against larger than life perils. My style of game play focuses on found family in the face of adversity and tackling tough topics with an air of levity. I am very knowledgeable about the rules and favor a rules as written style of play, but more important than rules is the story itself. I will, within reason, always endeavor to create epic cinematic sequences to reward creativity and rule of cool. My goal as a dungeon master is always to create a feeling that the players have autonomy within the story and agency within the world. You are the heroes and this is our story. I always want everyone for all backgrounds, lifestyles, and walks of life to feel safe and heard at my table. 🩷🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-Generated characters will be available for ease of play for new players. Despite being pre-made, you'll have the chance to add your own flair and backstory to make the character your own as we play. At the start of the adventure I will present your options with brief descriptions and allow you to choose the character that calls out the most to you. If you would like to create your own character, please create a level 3 character using the Dungeons and Dragons 2014 ruleset. Expansions books such as Xanathar's and Tasha's are welcome but no homebrew materials will be allowed. Character sheets will be stored in a Roll20.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Little to no prep is required! You can step into this adventure needing only a brief introduction at the start of the adventure. Players will need to create accounts for Roll20 and Discord to play the game. We will use Roll20 as a virtual table-top to run the game, share maps, and store character sheets. We'll be using a discord server for our voice call, video will be fully optional!

What GM Harry brings to the table

This game will be intended to a calming and introductory/cozy experience to the game with relaxing ambient music. I will be leaning towards a rules-lite and rule of cool experience for this story. I do not do accents for voices but will adjust tone and cadence to best reflect the speaker. You can expect to come away with a understanding of how to play the game and the opportunity to create your own clever solutions to open ended challenges.

Safety

How GM Harry creates a safe table

During the game will be using pause, rewind and fastforward flashcards that players can either verbally use or digitally to signify their comfort levels. In advance of session, a google survey will be available if players would like to specify and of their specific lines and limits. During play, I will often do a temperature check of the room to ensure everyone is comfortable and at the end of the session do Thorns and Roses to understand what people thought went well or poorly.
